Who we are
OUR MISSION
The by-line of “The Calling of Jubilee Primary School” states that we are a Living Vision of Local Churches. We are an ecumenical Brisbane Catholic Education school, which is a living vision of local northern Gold Coast churches. At all times we aspire to be an expression of the unity and diversity of Christianity through a co-operative educational environment among the Christian churches.
We recognize and celebrate the unique talents of each student as a child of God’s creation. We promote excellence in learning within a compassionate and caring atmosphere at all times recognizing that all-important relationship between the key stakeholders; students, parents, staff and the wider community.
As an ecumenical community we respect the uniqueness of each child and strive to promote equity and excellence for all children. We have a shared vision for quality teaching and learning that combines contemporary pedagogy with open and effective communication.
Jubilee actualizes co-operation between the participating churches to ground our expression of Christian unity with a diversity of Christian traditions through the Religious Life of the School encompassing prayer, celebration, worship and the religion education curriculum thus seeking to promote quality learning within an ecumenical culture.
The school community of Jubilee offers an environment where we strive to develop among all stakeholders a sense of self- affirmation, social awareness, integrity, responsibility and sensitivity towards the needs of others. We provide an outreach to the wider community through our network of pastoral care.
We aspire to remain true to our School motto of “Faith, Learning and Unity” by embracing the BCEO Religion Curriculum whilst at all times maintaining respect to each of our Covenant Churches.

PRAYER & WORSHIP
At Jubilee we give every opportunity for our students and wider community to respond to the wonder and mystery of life. We try to offer a variety of experiences of worship.
We follow the BCE Religion Curriculum and have the explicit teaching of prayer on our school Scope and Sequence. As a school we pray together whenever we gather as a group.
As an Ecumenical school, we celebrate the similarities of our faith traditions but also honour the differences. For example, before we pray we always say, “Please begin our prayer in the way you feel most comfortable." Most children will make the Sign of the Cross whilst some may simply bow their heads.
Prayer is incorporated into our day. At Monday Morning Muster (the whole school gathers in the Covered Area at the beginning of the week) our Year 6 leaders lead us in prayer. Staff gather weekly for prayer on a Friday morning at 8:10am. We pray before a Staff Meeting. We have a Baby Blessing for staff just before they go off on leave (the partner is also welcome to attend). We gather together as a staff on significant days to pray. We also have simultaneous prayer for feasts and special occasions.
When we pray the “Our Father” we pray an Ecumenical version specifically created for Jubilee. At our Prayer Assemblies, each class takes a turn at leading the prayer. These prayers follow the seasons of the Church or other topical or significant events. For example Caritas, Anzac Day, etc.
All classrooms have a Sacred Space and prayers are said throughout our day. Where possible, our prayer assemblies acknowledge significant feasts and special days.
We celebrate days of religious significance on a whole school basis. At Jubilee, we try to give focus each Term to one of our Covenant Churches. We have a Catholic focus in Term 1, an Anglican focus in Term 2, an Apostolic focus in Term 3 and Uniting Church focus in Term 4. Whole school liturgies, led by our Covenant Faith Leaders, are generally held once per Term. We may gather more often for days of special significance. For example: Anzac Day, Jubilee Day, Holy Week, beginning/end of Term.
Staff are encouraged to participate in REAP. We have had professional learning on Prayer. A small group of teachers attend the “Colours” conference each year.
Our school is dotted with art and iconography, reflecting the differing faith traditions of our school. The “Cross” is a common feature of all Christian Traditions and makes a prominent feature throughout our school.
Our grounds are spectacular and teachers often take advantage of them in school lessons, using the natural environment to enhance that real sense of the sacred.
Jubilee nurtures the Christian prayer life of the school. We follow the BCE curriculum and all Year Levels ensure that the students know the appropriate prayers allocated to them by the end of the year. As stated previously, prayer is incorporated into our daily life. Meditation is facilitated across the school with every class participating.
On a Thursday morning we offer S.P.A.R. (Stop, Pray And Reflect) to our parent community at 8:30am after morning drop off. We are also looking at other ways of extending this initiative by offering a mindfulness and meditation program to our parents. We are in the process of applying for the Leo Dunne Memorial Grant and if we are successful, we have a lady waiting to run this program for us.
We also host a ‘Grandparents Day’ each year that is always very well received.
An invitation is always extended to our parents and family members to attend our special celebrations. These invitations are extended via the newsletter, our Jubilee Facebook page, our Jubilee app, twitter and also via regular communication between classroom teachers and parents/carers. These are always very well attended as parents love to watch their children being showcased. If parents are working and can’t attend, photos are uploaded onto the face book page for viewing.
Our i-Centre houses a large amount of resources that were purchased to assist teachers in delivering quality teaching and learning experiences with our students. We are currently in the process of developing our ‘wardrobe’ of costumes for dramatic presentations.
