Who we are
Keolahou Hawaiian Congregational Church is a small, caring and vital church located towards the North end of South MauiHawaiionKihei Road. Our church has a small membership (aprox. 30-50), but serves the needs of its immediate community and its community at large.
Services are conducted on Sundays in both English and Hawaiian. Praise and Worship is also conducted in both languages and our Na Keiki (children) are encouraged to participate in worship through the hula (dance) and mele(song) which is taught by their worship kumu (teacher) at the church. On any Sunday there are always visitors and returnees who have made Keolahou Church their church away from home. Come early at 9:30am to join in on our Praise and Worship time! Service begins at 10am.
This is a full service church. The sacraments are available and Holy Communion is conducted on the first Sunday of each month. The Christian Calendar Year is followed and much of our literature comes through our parent church organization TheUnitedChurchof Christ.
Every Friday Keolahou Church hosts and distributes groceries and toiletries to some 50 families and individuals (140-150 people) in need and living in the Kihei area. The “Food Pantry” has been an on-going program for well over 15yrs. In addition, the church provides a dinner on one Tuesday a month to the people in the temporary homeless shelter.
On Thursday evenings we host 808Uke Jam, a wonderful class of ukulele enthusiast of all different levels hosted and taught by Jared DelosSantos. It begins promptly at 7pm and ends at 9pm. This is open to those who love the ukulele and want to learn (or even if you just want to check it out). Ukulele’s are available to rent.
On Saturday we have Na Keiki Hula Halau and Ka Mala’ai O Na Keiki.
Hula lessons begin at 11am and 12:30pm, if you are a beginner, the later class is for you . In between, we have the children in our vegetable garden learning the joys of planting, reaping and eating the fruits of their labor.

Food Pantry
Every Friday we have been serving the South Maui Community through our Food Pantry. Distributing food, toiletries and a couple times a month a bento lunch. In partnership with the Maui Foodbank, Kihei Lutheran Church, St Theresa Church, friends of Keolahou Church and Volunteers. Mahalo to Taste of Aloha 808 for preparing our bento lunches for our Kupuna and our unsheltered brothers and sisters. We would like to express our deepest gratitude for each one who has helped to see that our community is served weekly. Mahalo to Kihei Lutheran Churchand their members who has been a continuous supporter of Keolahou Congregational Hawaiian Church’s Food Pantry.

Our Hawaiian Heritage
One Hundred Years ago Hawaiian Families living near the church founded Keolahou as a place for them to worship. We honor that legacy by conducting parts of our service in the Hawaiian language and following other Hawaiian traditions.
We have had a wonderful supportive relationship with 808 Uke Jams and Halau Na Pua O Ka`iwa. Halau808 Uke Jams holds ukulele jam sessions in the Hale Pule, the sanctuary Wednesday afternoons and Thursday evenings. Halau Na Pua O Ka`iwa holds hula classes most Sundays in our Hale Aina, Community Room, including a free beginning hula class. Every two months both Halau share their music and dance at Sunday Service instead of the regular sermon.

For over 30 years, this congregation has been providing food support to the needy of South Maui.
Every Friday morning, our Foodbank supplies food to an average of 75 families that include an average of 120 individuals. {this was a guess – need more accurate numbers.}
Keolahou provides a free “Pot Luck” dinner for the homeless shelter every first Tuesday of the month, and have done so for the past 30 years.
