Living Word Church History
Our History
In September 1993, under the guidance and leadership of the Holy Spirit, Pastors Harold and Marilyn Morton were the founding Pastors of Living Word Church. Our first location to gather together to worship the Lord was at the Holiday Inn, then located on the south side of Conroe. We then meet for a very short time in the Sam Houston Elementary School. From there, we moved to a storefront building in the Bellshire Shopping Plaza located on Interstate 45. Efforts were initiated to pinpoint the property God had set aside for Living Word Church. A 10-acre parcel of land on South Loop 336 East was located. As Pastor Morton was in route to speak with the realtor, the Holy Spirit prompted him that this was not the time to pursue the purchase. Six months later in March 1995, the Holy Spirit gave Pastor Morton the release to follow through with the purchase. The same 10-acre tract of property on South Loop 336 East was then purchased for our new church facilities at a cost of $7,000.00 per acre less than the original price! “Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favor my righteous cause; yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.” Psalm 35:27
A stewardship campaign was launched with the theme, “Not Equal Gifts, But Equal Commitment.” According to Exodus 35:5 “Everyone who was willing and whose heart moved him came and brought an offering to the Lord for the work on the Tent of Meeting. . . More than enough for doing the work the Lord commanded to be done” and after prayerful consideration, God’s people committed to give a weekly gift during a period of 156 weeks over and above their regular tithes and offerings. Very soon clearing of our land begun, then we watch with amazement in our hearts of God’s goodness as the construction begun on our new house of worship in February 1996. From the foundation to the steeple, God’s plan to establish a house where His Spirit could manifest Himself to bring salvation, healing of the spirit, soul and body, deliverance, restoration and equipping of His saints was being accomplished. And we the congregation of Living Word Church was and still are privileged to fulfill God’s desire and plan. With untold excitement and with our highest praise, our first Sunday in our new house of worship was in June 1996!! “This, the first of His miraculous sign, Jesus performed. He thus revealed His glory, and His disciples put their faith in Him.” John 2:11
In September 2013, Pastors Harold and Marilyn Morton and Living Word World Outreach Church will celebrate our twentieth year anniversary. We will celebrate the faithfulness of our God that has blessed us in so many marvelous ways since that first meeting twenty years ago when we began with a small borrowed podium and a small handful of faithful people. Faithful people who desperately desired to “Experience the Power and Presence of God.“ Throughout these past nineteen years, Living Word World Outreach Church has definitely experienced the power and presence of God and will continue to do so until the catching away of His bride!
