Lone Star Baptist Church History
On Sunday, May 1, 1887, at 10 a.m., 14 Baptist believers met at Kemper School House and organized Lone Star Baptist Church.
The church was received into the Augusta Association on August 31, 1887 with 31 members.
The Rev. J.B. Davis was called as pastor on August 13, 1887.
Worship services and business meetings of the new church were held at Kemper School House, Wet Ground School House and at Pinnel Chapel Methodist Church until a building could be constructed.
A one-room frame building was built on land belonging to the Rev. J.B. Davis and was dedicated on August 31, 1890.
For several years after the retirement of the Rev. Davis, there was no regular pastor; only occasional preaching services were held by pastors from Covington churches and revivals conducted by visiting members.
In 1948, work began on adding a full-size basement and, from then, additions and improvements had been made for physical comfort of worshipers.
The membership had grown from the original 14 members to 133.
In 1953 land for the parsonage was donated by Mrs. Kate Davis Bowman, who was church clerk from 1910 to 1948.
The parsonage was built in 1957.
Over the years, many physical changes have taken place to the original church building.
Eventually, due to being landlocked and a need for more space, Lone Star built a new church building on land across the road.
The first service in the new church building was held on Mother’s Day, 2008.
The current church pastor is the Rev. Donald Earwood, who came to Lone Star on May 1, 2004.

Help my unbelief
Dear God, help my unbelief. When I'm in pain, I forget that you care about me. I forget that you have helped me through my trials. I forget that you hold me in your arms to keep me safe. I forget that you are feeling my pain with me. I forget that you love me, I forget that I am important to you. Show me your presence - let me feel your enveloping love. Heal my hurting soul. Thank you for staying with me even in my unbelief.
