Leader Bio:
Raised near Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Paul left home in 1983 to join the military and complete an engineering / mathematics degree at Mount Allison University. After an exciting 31-year career in the army, he retired to become a cyber security advisor with the Government of Canada. However, that second career was short lived as he was called to ministry during a worship service at Manotick United Church in November 2015.
With a lot of help and guidance from friends here, he soon started his theological studies in Montreal and his new spiritual journey. Over the last six years he has completed those studies and worked with several outstanding clergy and congregations including Orleans United Church, First United Church, and Quyon Pastoral Charge. We are so grateful that Paul can continue his faith journey with us at Manotick United Church!

Manotick United Church History
1845: A Methodist church in the form of a small log building is established at Long Island Locks and this serves the rapidly growing settlement of Methodists in the area.
1877: Most of the Methodists have moved into the area around Manotick Mill and a new church is built on the corner of Catherine and Elizabeth Streets (now Currier and Dickinson) with time and materials donated by the congregation.
1902: The church building and all records are destroyed by a grass fire. Two days after the fire it is agreed to rebuild the church. In the meantime, the congregation meets in the old Harmony Hall.
1904: Two members of the congregation agree to purchase and donate the present site, a lot known as "the orchard" and the new church (our present building) is constructed on this site and opened on May 22, 1904.
1925: The United Church of Canada is founded as a merger of four Protestant denominatiuons and the Methodist church becomes Manotick United Church.
1956: The church hall is added as an extension to the back of the original church building.

Love me, Lord, just for today
Lord, for tomorrow and its needs, I do not pray; Keep me, my God, from stain of sin just for today. Let me both diligently work, And duly pray. Let me be kind in word and deed, Just for today. Let me be slow to do my will, Prompt to obey; Help me to sacrifice myself Just for today. And if today my tide of life should ebb away, Give me thy sacraments divine, Sweet Lord today. So for tomorrow and its needs I do not pray, But keep me, guide me, love me, Lord, Just for today.
