Who we are
Hi: Thanks for dropping by. Good to have you here.
Everyone here at Milton Baptist understand that stepping into a new church for the first time can be intimidating and maybe even uncomfortable for some people. When you visit Milton Baptist, our goal is to make you immediately feel welcomed & accepted – just as you are. There is a place for you, your children, your family and your friends.
WHO ARE WE?:
If you are still here you might want to know who we are. Milton Baptist Church is a intergenerational, multi-ethnic congregation. The church began in 1979 meeting in the chapel of the neighbourhood seniors residence. The church built and moved into this building in 1988.
Our denomination affiliation is with the Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec. Over the years this connection has grown and we are proud to call ourselves part of this denomination.
We have strong Baptist beliefs that centre around the Trinity, the church, sin and forgiveness. We believe that Christ died to pay the penalty for our sins and we accept this grace by faith in a Saviour who wants nothing more than to have each and everyone of us in heaven with His Father and the God we worship.
WHAT WE ARE DOING NOW
This is my sixth Interim Ministry position and my third Intentional Interim position. Over these last seven years, I have assisted congregations in the rediscovery of God’s will for their lives and for their churches. It is amazing to see congregation bloom and grow as the light of Christ and the Joy of the Lord returns. It’s hard to believe it’s eleven months since I first entered the doors of Milton Baptist Church. It is a delight to be here. Together we are learning what it means to be the church. We are also realizing God has a plan not just for our lives collectively but our personal lives as well. Yes, we are in this together. Here is a slogan that sums up who we are
Grow Church in a Growing Community.
In the months we have been together, we have gone through a number of sermon series. The first one was looking at the attributes of a going and growing congregation. This October-November we are looking at ‘Being The Church’ not just a church that is doing church. This will be followed by our first Advent together. Now we are looking at how Jesus connected with people and what the outcome was.
If you are interested in coming and being part of our transition, come be our quest and stay to join the family. If you are looking for the perfect church, it’s not us. We realize all to well that we are sinners saved by grace and there is no one in this church that is perfect. But we are trying to get better. As another minister, Steve Brown has been heard saying, “We are beggars showing other beggars where to find bread.”
If you have any questions feel free to contact us at the church either by phone or email. And if you would like to know more about us and our church and faith, feel free to join us any Sunday morning at 11 am.
Blessings

Rev. Robert (Robin) W J Barlow
B.R.E. Pastoral – Tyndale Bible College & Seminary University
M.R.E. – McMaster Divinity College
M.Div. – McMaster Divinity College
Born and raised in Hamilton ON.
Like so many other young people, there was a time when I was searching not just for answers to the longing of my heart, but why I was born, where I was going and what was life really all about. It was at this time I came to Christ through the ministry of Youth For Christ Canada. In the next couple of years I did what many young children do and that was to be involved with a local church. It wasn’t until I was about 14 that I felt God calling me into ministry. Like many young people I felt the call of money as well. That brought me to my first life changing decision. I went to work the week after I finished high school at Dofasco in Hamilton. God still had other plans for me and I left my dream job within a year to follow God’s call that I could no longer deny.
After graduating from Tyndale Bible College and Seminary University, I began ministry a my first church in Saskatchewan. It’s been an interesting journey for me as I have followed God in many directions. In 2006 I left the settled pastoral ministry, again answering God’s call to transition into Interim Ministry and subsequently to Intentional Interim Ministry.
In my spare time I am learning the art of clock and watch repair from a wonderful senior watchmaker. This pastime relaxes me as I get into clocks and watches and am always looking to add to my collection.
If you have unanswered questions, as do many of us, feel free to come and join us or give us a call or email. I might not have all the answers but we know the God who does.
Peace
Rob
