Mount Olive Lutheran Church History
Mount Olive Lutheran Church "Who we are" statement as of February 2004
Who we are...
Mount Olive Lutheran Church is a member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. It is our goal, as a congregation of believers, to proclaim the unchanging gospel of Jesus Christ to an ever-changing world. We do that through a life of worship, study, and fellowship that is centered in God's Word.
What we believe...
GRACE ALONE - FAITH ALONE - SCRIPTURE ALONE
As a Lutheran church, we firmly hold to the three "pillars" of the the Lutheran Reformation of the church; three teachings that are basic to Christianity, and are taught clearly in the Bible. We believe that (1) We are saved by God's grace (his love in action) alone, not by our own decision, (Ephesians 2:8-10). (2) We are saved through faith in Jesus Christ alone, and not by our good deeds (Romans 3:23-24). (3) We receive saving faith through God's Word (the Bible) alone, and not by prayer or chance (Romans 10:17).
We believe that all mankind is born in sin and would be lost, except that in grace and love God saved us through Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross (Romans 6:23). We believe that Jesus Christ is both true God and true man (Matthew 1:18-21); and that through faith in him we have forgiveness of sins, and therefore, eternal life in heaven.
Not only are the "three pillars" true, but all 39 books of the Old Testament and 27 books of the New Testament are the inspired Word of God and therefore contain no errors, no contradictions, and no unkept promises. (2 Timothy 3:16). The Holy Spirit uses God's Word both to create and to strengthen saving faith in our hearts.

Come Lord Jesus!
Lord Jesus, master of both the light and the darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas. We who have so much to do seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day. We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us. We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom. We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence. We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light. To you we say, "Come Lord Jesus!"
