Who we are
Mount Ollie Baptist Church was organized and founded January 24, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York by the late Revered Henry Milerson. Rev. Milerson served as pastor until he was called home in 1937. He was succeeded by Rev. R. S. Williams.
Mount Ollie Baptist Church was incorporated on October 4, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York.
On Sunday, May 7, 1939, the late Rev. R. D. Brown a native of Michigan was called as Pastor. Under his leadership, many programs were instituted including the building of our present edifice. It was the first Baptist church constructed in Brownsville. Rev. Brown was very active in the community and well known in Brownsville. He served until he was called home in 1985
In April of 1987, Rev. Spurgeon E. Crayton assumed the pastorate of Mt. Ollie Baptist Church.
He developed and exhibited a dynamic, creative and innovative ministry that had an impact all over the borough of Brooklyn. Rev. Crayton served as pastor for 21 years and retired as Pastor on Sunday, October 26, 2008. On March 18, 2013 Rev. Crayton was called home to Glory.
On July 31, 2011 the Reverend Reginald Lee Bachus was installed as the fourth Pastor of the Mt. Ollie Baptist Church. Now in his second year of pastorate he has taken the church to a new level of spiritual growth and communion with God. A Spiritual learned man hailing from the halls of Yale University School of Divinity the church is moving on.
Drawing upon African heritage and contemporary economics, the church has distinguished itself as both a place of worship and a place of refuge to the community.
Mt. Ollie is a place that many preachers all over the nation call home. Over twenty preachers and pastors received their call to the ministry while members of Mt. Ollie. Many of these preachers have started congregations throughout New York City as an extension of the work started here.
