Who we are
Small community members care deeply for one another.
New Hope Lutheran members care deeply for community.
There is a community here for ALL God's people with our HOPE God's grace INSPIRES us.
Through Jesus' death on the cross, God showed us a love we can hardly imagine showing for another. It is a love we often feel unworthy of receiving. It is love that inspires us. God's grace inspires us to do many things, but three in particular:
LOVE: “No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” -John 15:13
God’s grace shown to us through Christ’s death on the cross is the ultimate sign of love for someone else; thus the inspiration for us to love others. "Others" means the people closest to us, but perhaps more importantly, other people in our midst. Our neighbors. The outsiders. Those who are different.
GROW: “Still other seed fell on good soil where it produced a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.” -Luke 8:8 God's grace inspires growth. Not growth in sense of membership numbers BUT focus of the church to grow faith of its members. Growth is going to happen here through community. Growth is going to happen here through interaction with people just like us. AND, growth is going to happen here through involvement with others who are NOTHING like us.
SERVE: “The son of man came not to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” -Matthew 20:28 God’s grace inspires us to serve one another. The word of God inspires us to serve our neighbor. God in Christ Jesus challenges us to serve the outsider, the new person, the unfamiliar, and those different than us.
These three elements, however, DO NOT stand alone.
There is LOVE in SERVICE, and SERVICE in LOVE.
There is LOVE in GROWTH and GROWTH in LOVE.
And, you guessed it,
GROWTH with SERVICE and SERVICE with GROWTH.

New Hope Lutheran Church History
In 1867, about 40 families of Norwegian descent settled west of the village of Sand Creek and together formed "Our Savior's Lutheran Congregation".
The following year, 1868, a second group of families settled east of the village of Sand Creek and organized "Zion Lutheran Congregation".
In 1968, after mergers of various national Lutheran Synods and growing desire of the two congregations to provide a more unified, God-pleasing ministry to the community, Our Savior's + Zion congregations were aligned to the Sand Creek Lutheran Parish.
Two years later, in 1970, after extensive study with many cooperative ventures in worship and work, the two congregations entered a consolidation, thus born "New Hope Lutheran Congregation".
In the early years, members of both former congregations worshiped in private homes served by interim pastors. In 1881, Our Savior's congregation erected a church building two miles west of Sand Creek on county road "V". In 1912 growth of the western congregation erected a second building eight miles west of Sand Creek, also on county road "V" in "Lower Pine Creek", still used for worship. In 1883 Zion congregation erected its building in the village of Sand Creek. All three buildings were expanded with renovations to better serve the congregational needs over the years.
Following consolidation of the two congregations and abiding Articles of Agreement, New Hope Congregation launched a thorough study of its physical needs. Thus construction began to build the church we currently worship in. Ground broke June 4, 1972 with the first worship service April 19, 1973.

Come Lord Jesus!
Lord Jesus, master of both the light and the darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas. We who have so much to do seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day. We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us. We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom. We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence. We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light. To you we say, "Come Lord Jesus!"
