Welcome to New United Missionary Baptist Church. As a church we are committed to the person and work of Jesus Christ through Bible based preaching, community outreach and fellowship with the brethren. It is our hope that this site will provide you with a glimpse of some of the great work that is taking place here at New U, as well as move you toward a more personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Our Mission

Our mission is to support public worship and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ through such ministries as may be determined by this church, as set for in Matthew 28:19-20.Our vision is to seek the aid of the Holy Spirit and walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church, in knowledge, holiness and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of this ministry, the expense of the church, relief of the poor and spread the gospel through all nations.

Leader Bio:

Dr. Jeffrey Wilson is a native of Chattanooga and a graduate of Brainerd High School. He is a graduate of the University of Memphis and the Luther Rice Seminary. He holds a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min) from the United Theological Seminary. Additionally, Dr. Wilson has completed graduate coursework from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. In May of 2012 Dr. Wilson was chosen, along with one hundred and fifty leaders, to participate in the Summer Institute program on Reconciliation at the Duke University Divinity School. Dr. Wilson is a graduate of the second cohort of the Morehouse College of Pastoral Leadership.

Since 2009, Dr. Wilson has served as the pastor of New United Missionary Baptist Church. Under his leadership the church has undergone several renovations. Also, during his tenure, several new ministries have come on board including the Higher Education Ministry where serval hundred students from across the community and region have participated in HCBU tours. Also, under his pastorate, the church lunched a health and wellness ministry which host programs and webinars throughout the year as well as a conference of African American Health Care Disparities.

As a community mined servant, Dr. Wilson has served on numerous boards and committees including the CHI Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, the Bessie Smith Cultural Center, Chattanooga Symphony and Opera, the City of Chattanooga Pension Board, The Land Bank Authority, the United Way, the YMCA, Chattanooga 2.0, the Bright Start Steering Committee as well as numerous others. Over the years he has served has the Vice Chairman and acting chair of the Hamilton County Democratic Party, Vice President of the Chattanooga Chapter of 100 Black Men and the Vice Moderator of the Chattanooga Baptist and Missionary Association. Dr. Wilson also served two terms as an elected member of the Hamilton County School Board. In 2012, he served as the Grand Marshall of the Southside Parade.

His memberships include the Servant Christian Leadership Fellowship, Clergy Koinonia of Greater Chattanooga, the NAACP (life member) and the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity (life member).

Dr. Jeffrey T. Wilson is married to Yolanda Spraggins Wilson, MD. They are the proud parents of one child, Thomas Jeremiah Wilson.
