Who we are
At Oakleigh Anglican Church our highest priority is to welcome people, whoever they are, wherever they have come from. We celerbate differences of race, age and life experienc, because we believe that everyone should have a chance to know what God is really like, and everyone should have opportunity to experience the live, joy, peace and unity we have found in being a community who know Jesus and want to share his love with one another, and with others along the way.
We are a two centre (Holy Trinity and Emmanuel) parish within the Diocese of Melbourne, which is itself part of the Anglican Church of Australia, which is itself part of the world wide Anglican Communion. This means that OAC benefits from having a firm and agreed theological base that stretches back ultimately to the days of the early church trained, licensed and accountable ministers support structures and expertise beyond local parish resources.
We believe that all of life is ‘sacred’ that is, lived in the presence of God. We seek to share our lives: getting to know one another; spending time with one another; so that we can be truly united in our faith in Jesus Christ. After the 9am services we meet for fellowship and morning tea, and after the 11am service, we share lunch together. This is an opportunity for people to get to know one another better - whether you are new, just visiting, or have been a part of the parish for years - to in a relaxed and informal way.
We also run events for the community - both the church community and the wider community - to come together socially. Some examples are concerts, murder mystery nights, scavenger hunts, spit roast meals and any other appropriate context for getting to know one another, sharing our lives together, and for opportunities to speak of what God is doing or has done in our lives.

Help me to avoid every sin
Thanks to Thee, O God, that I have risen today, To the rising of this life itself; may it be to Thine own glory, O God of every gift, and to the glory, aid Thou my soul. With the aiding of Thine own mercy, even as I clothe my body with wool, cover Thou my soul with the shadow of Thy wing. Help me to avoid every sin, and the source of every sin to forsake, and as the mist scatters on the crest of the hills, may each ill haze clear from my soul, O God.
