Who we are
Oaktree Anglican (St Mary's, Caulfield with St Clement's Elsternwick) is an Anglican evangelical church with a charismatic ethos. We have lively children and youth programs.
Oaktree holds to the historic creeds of the church, the authority of the Scriptures, and the atoning work of Christ in his death and resurrection. We are committed to the mission of the world-wide church. We seek to be a bold witness in our city and community, and to welcome and reach out to people of all nations in the power of the Spirit.
Throughout its history St Mary's has had an outward looking vision. Over the arch of sanctuary of the church is written the words of Jesus Christ: "All power is given unto me in heaven and on earth, go ye therefore and teach the nations." Australian Scripture Union began at St Mary's, and many of the surrounding Anglican congregations were planted by St Mary's. The first Australian missionaries to Korea and India went out from St Mary's. St Clement's which was planted as a chapel of ease by St Mary's has also shared an outward looking vision with an interest in sharing the gospel to people in the local community and overseas.
