Church Covenant
Having been led, as we believe by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour and, on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, we do now, in the presence of God and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.
We engare, therfore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promore its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.

We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember one another in prayer; to aid one another in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and Christian courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the rules of our Saviour to secure it without delay.
We moreover engage that when we remove from this place we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry our the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God's Word.

What a privilege it is to be the past of Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church. I believe that God has brought us together for a purpose. I’m excited about our journey together and what God has in store for us.
He’s given a vision of what lies ahead, and we are working towards it together. God’s blessings are so sweet and I’m thankful for them all. I’m most thankful for my relationship with Christ, this is a true blessing. For me, it started in 1984 when I gave my heart to the Lord and accepted him as my Saviour.
From there, he just keeps on blessing and blessing, I was called to preach at 16 in 1991. Then I met my wife Velvet, and we were married in 1993. She has truly been my helpmate ordained of God and a partner in the ministry. God blessed us with two wonderful girls, Morgan and Ashlin.
Morgan is married to Jarret Lawson and they will be expecting a baby boy in September of 2023. Both are active in the church and are our youth leaders. What a blessing. Ashlin is still living at home, working, and finished college and will be attending the police academy in November of 2023.
She plays an active role in the church with her musical talents and is the developer of our website. We are surrounded by friends and family, so for us, we have truly been blessed.

Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church History
The Start of Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church
In early September 1992, Brother Tony Jeffers felt God’s lead to start a mission. He talked to Brother Woody Jackson, Pastor of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church at the time, about his desire to start the mission.
On September 13, 1992, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church sent out the following people to begin a Mission, with Brother Tony Jeffers being the Moderator of the Mission: Linda Ball, Sandra Barnes, Mary Jo Bostic, Tony & Melinda Jeffers & family, Ronald & Felicia Lawson & family, Rick & Gayle Sebastian & family.
On September 19, 1992, the Mission met at Rick Sebastian’s home and agreed to name the Mission 'Olive Branch Mission'.
The first two Sunday services were held at Rick & Gayle Sebastian’s home, and the third service, on a Wednesday night, was held at Ron & Felisha Lawson’s home.
On September 23, 1992, the Mission agreed to rent a meeting place in a little storefront building in Amelia, Ohio. All of the members of the Mission immediately began working hard and fast to get the building ready so we could begin to have our worship services there. Everyone was excited and had great zeal and anticipation of what the Lord was going to do. With a piano and 40 folding chairs, we began having our services in the storefront.
Brother Rick Sebastian was ordained as Deacon on January 15, 1994.
Brother Ron Lawson was ordained as Deacon on July 14, 2001.
Brother Eddie Lawson was ordained as Deacon on May 2, 2015.
Olive Branch Mission was constituted into a church on September 11, 1993. The name was then changed to 'Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church.
The church later purchased three and a half acres of land on Mt. Holly Road in Amelia, Ohio. We were a church on a mission! Construction of the new church, on this new property, began in July 1996 and it was completed by the end of October 1996.
The Sunday School & Fellowship Hall addition was completed in the Fall of 2002.
The pavilion/shelter was built in the Summer of 2006 by the men of the church. The steeple was built and mounted on top of the church in the Summer of 2006 as well.
The baptistery was added on in 2017 and the baptistery mural was painted by Ron Keith shortly after completion.
God has truly blessed. Countless souls have been saved at Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church. It’s been worth every mile of the trip. What a journey this journey has been!!!
