Monsignor James Lisante, the fourth Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, was ordained on January 31, 1981 by Bishop Gerald J. Ryan. He served his first five years of ministry as Associate Pastor of St. Boniface Parish in Elmont, NY.
In 1985, Bishop John R. McGann, Bishop of Rockville Centre, appointed Monsignor Jim to serve as diocesan Director of the Office of Family Ministry. His responsibilities in that office included marital preparation, outreach to divorced and separated Catholics, and coordinating the Pro-Life efforts of the diocese.
He resided during the years of service to Family Ministry at both St. Agnes Cathedral Parish in Rockville Centre, NY, and Maria Regina Parish in Seaford, NY.
During those years, Monsignor Jim also began a very active participation in television, radio and print journalism. He served as a regular contributor on the Fox News Channel, ABC-Eyewitness News and PBS.
He also hosted a weekly interview program on the diocesan television channel. This local program was then nationally sponsored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. It was called Personally Speaking with Msgr Jim Lisante and continues today as a regular program on The Catholic Channel of Sirius/XM (Channel 129) and as a popular podcast on YouTube.
Monsignor Jim Lisante is the best-selling author of four books, most notably including Of Life and Love. His columns have appeared in over 300 newspapers around the globe, and he was a multiple award winner for his writing from the Catholic Press Association.
Monsignor Lisante also worked as Director of The Christophers, an international organization using media to promote the message: 'It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness.' in 1996, Monsignor Lisante was appointed as Pastor of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in West Hempstead, NY. Monsignor Jim grew up in St. Thomas the Apostle parish and had the privilege of pastoring the community that formed his faith. After twelve years as Pastor of St. Thomas, Monsignor Jim was appointed Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Massapequa Park, NY, in 2008.
Monsignor Jim, with several post graduate degrees, has also served as Chaplain to the Columbian Lawyers Association for over thirty years. He is the son of Nicholas and Cecelia Lisante, the brother of sisters Joan and Patricia, the uncle of five nephews and nieces, and the great-uncle of six young children. His greatest loves are his God, his family and his country.

Our Lady of Lourdes History
In 1955, Archbishop Thomas P. Molloy asked Rev. Francis P. McLoone to establish a new parish in Massapequa Park. At the request of Fr. McLoone, its first Pastor, the parish was placed under the patronage of Our Lady of Lourdes and was officially founded on October 13, 1955.
Though a six-acre site, the parish initially consisted of a rectory, converted from a farmhouse, and a barn, which through the industriousness of parishioners, became a chapel.
In 1957, Most Rev. Walter P. Kellenberg, directed Fr. McLoone to alter his building plans to include a school and convent as well as auditorium facilities.
Rev. Christopher Fagan was appointed the second Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes on June 24, 1961. Four months later, ground was broken for a 24-classroom school, auditorium, convent, and chapel, with the school opening on September 10, 1962.
In October 1976, Rev. Robert E. Mason was named the Parish’s third Pastor.
Bishop John McGann dedicated the new Church building on May 5, 1985.
In June 2008, Msgr. James P. Lisante became the fourth and current Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish.

You are...
You are the shade in the heat, You are shelter in the cold, You are eyes to the blind, You are a staff to the pilgrim, You are an island in the sea, You are a stronghold upon land, You are healing to the sick. You are the luck of every joy, You are the light of the sun's beam, You are the door of lordly welcome, You are the pole star of guidance, You are the step of the roe of the height, You are the step of the white-faced mare, You are the grace of the swimming swan, You are the jewel in each mystery.
