Who we are
Welcome to Parkside
The Parkside church is a family of faith committed to honoring God, loving one another, and serving our community. We are not perfect and we are amazed that God loves us the way He does. In our worship, we celebrate what Jesus has done, is doing and will do in our lives. We have faith you will find Parkside to be a place where you will be accepted as you are, encouraged to come to know Christ and supported in your walk with Him.
It is our goal to be a Bible-centered church. In all we do, we try to be just that. At the same time, we realize that we are not perfect, our conclusions are not flawless, and our practices sometimes are colored by habit, preference, tradition, or convenience.
One of the unique things about churches of Christ is our a cappella singing. That simply means we sing without the accompaniment of musical instruments in our worship assemblies. We think you’ll find the music both beautiful and meaningful. Our church family loves to sing praises to God. We hope you will join us as we glorify Him.
Each Sunday Morning, as a part of our worship, we remember Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection, and celebrate our resulting freedom from sin by participating in communion (the Lord’s Supper).
During this memorial, plates containing unleavened bread are passed throughout the congregation. The bread symbolizes the body of Jesus sacrificed on the cross. Each person participating will break off a piece of bread, eat it, and give thanks for His death on their behalf.
Next, trays filled with individual cups are distributed. The cups contain grape juice symbolizing the blood of Jesus. Each participant drinks the contents of one cup and continues to think about the forgiveness God offers through Jesus. As our guest, you are invited to participate if you wish.
Each Sunday morning plates are passed to collect our members’ weekly financial gifts. Our gifts are offered as a response to the incredible love God has shown to us. As our guest, you are free to participate if you wish, but are under no obligation to give.
At the conclusion of the message, we sing songs to allow time for each of us to think about our relationship with God and the many ways He enriches our lives. Sometimes people will “respond” by coming to the front of the auditorium for baptism, prayer, or to make known a desire to become a member of this church family.
You are invited to drop by the table in the lobby. We want to meet you, answer any questions you have, and see if there are any needs with which we may help you.
