I am a newbie to Peace Lutheran Church. Actually, I am new to ministry in the Lutheran church as well. I was ordained in the Anglican Church of Canada and ministered in several different churches in Saskatchewan and British Columbia.
I really enjoy tapping into the spiritual side of life whether kayaking on the ocean, hiking a mountain, leading a service of holy communion, or sitting with a fellow spiritual companion before a lit candle and an icon. I have explored iconography and written (painted) two icons, one of St. Michael the Archangel and the other of St. Gabriel, with the Prosopon School of Iconology; see http://www.prosoponschool.org I spent two years in training to become a Spiritual Director with the Haden Institute https://www.hadeninstitute.com and am registered with Spiritual Directors International http://www.sdiworld.org
I am passionate about the faith community as a place in the global community where the divine life is shared in breathtaking and dynamic ways. I have found no better way than Godly Play as a model for spiritually forming children in the church; see https://www.godlyplayfoundation.org I feel the church needs to keep re-awakening to the divine mysteries and be a loving transformative community in the 21st century.
We can take our ancient faith into the future if we are willing to give fresh expression to the Christian community; see https://www.freshexpressions.ca I welcome you to come and contribute to the expression of church we call Peace Lutheran!

Outreach Ministry
We are a group of people in the congregation with a passion for reaching out to others in compassion and grace. One of the events we plan and coordinate is the annual Neighbourhood BBQ in September.
We make some of the needs in our community known to the congregation to raise involvement, support and prayer. One of the ways we are doing that presently is to support Cyrus Centre https://www.cyruscentre.com and the work they do with youth on the streets in Abbotsford.
We welcome your participation in our ministry of compassion towards others.
Abbotsford Food Bank
We proudly support the Abbotsford Food Bank, so that those people less fortunate in our City of Abbotsford may get food in their stomachs. Abbotsford Food Bank located at 33914 Essendene Avenue. Or you can drop off donations here in the church. Phone 604-859-5749. They can always use volunteers.

Peace Lutheran Quilting Group meet weekly every Monday morning, 9:30 to 11:30 am, primarily to work on making and assembling patchwork quilts. Some of the work is also done at home. Our season is September to May, at which time the majority of our quilts are sent to Abbotsford during the BC Baling Days in May. Each year the shipments of quilts, layettes, dresses and other items are sent to different third world countries. Besides Canadian Lutheran World Relief our quilts are given to Abbotsford Transition House for Women, and Cyrus Centre for Youth in Abbotsford. The ladies of the Quilting Group welcome anyone who may be interested in attending our Monday morning group. The morning is also a time for fellowship and refreshments are served.
