Who we are
Welcome to Pluckemin Presbyterian Church, where everyone's welcome, nobody's perfect, and anything is possible.
We are glad you found us, and hope that the information you find here will allow you to:
Come and experience our community Grow in faith and develop a relationship with God Find ways to serve locally and abroad
At Pluckemin Church, we want worship to be the best hour of your week! That's why every service is carefully planned to help worshipers to come into God's presence in ways that inspire, inform, challenge, and heal. We proudly follow a traditional Presbyterian order of worship, but no one would accuse us of being stuck in the past.
On any given Sunday you will see anything from jeans to suits and ties. Everyone is welcome and we would rather you be comfortable and here than not at all.
Expect to be warmly greeted when you walk in.
Our sermons are Bible based and connect with everyday life and circumstances. Feel free to listen to a few. EXPLORE
During the offering please don't feel obligated to give. We really mean this.
You will hear a variety of music during worship, from traditional to more contemporary. It could be played on the organ, piano, guitar, or hand bells. Please feel free to sing along!
Please don't panic or be embarrassed if your child squirms during worship. We understand, we have all been there at one time or another in our lives. To preoccupy them we have activity/worship bags or perhaps you prefer some items from home. (Hint: bring the items out one at a time, as needed, your child will be more impressed by them). If you need to leave the sanctuary to go for a walk or the restroom, just leave and come back to the worship when you can. If you feel more comfortable, our library serves as a "crying room." The service is piped into the library and you can listen there with your child.
If you prefer to worship without your kids, we have a professionally staffed nursery. You can rest easy because we use a vibrating paging system to reach you if there is any need at all.
We celebrate The Lord's Supper (Communion) on the first Sunday of every month. All baptized people are welcome to participate, regardless of your denomination.

For your infant to 3 year old we offer a professionally staffed nursery every Sunday morning from 9am - 11:30am so parents can attend both Adult Education and Worship. Sunday School is available during the 9 o'clock hour for your children ages 3 through high school.
We like to start off our Worship services with our children by our side. After the children's message, Pre-K children through 3rd grade can leave the sanctuary and go to Children's Worship for a fun filled worship experience geared specifically for them.
Children of all ages are welcome to worship with their parent(s) in the Sanctuary. The ushers will provide you with activity bags that include crayons and coloring pages. The church library serves as a 'crying room'. The service is piped into the library, so you can listen there with your child.

Pluckemin Presbyterian Church History
Our history
The Presbyterian Church at Pluckemin is located in the small village of Pluckemin, which is part of Bedminster Township in the hills of Somerset County. The beginnings of the church in the Pluckemin area go back to about 1720, when early settlers started to arrive from Holland, Ireland, Scotland, and Germany. The area was then known as Raritan in the Hills. An early log church was erected on the mountainside about a mile and a quarter east of the present site, but usually it was more convenient for the people to meet in each other's homes. In 1758, the first church was built on the present site in Pluckemin village. This church was a stone structure, called St. Paul's and barely survived through the American Revolution, which brought raids of British troops and Washington's Army to the area. By 1850, the population had grown to sufficient size to warrant formal approval from the Presbytery of Elizabethtown to form a local Presbyterian Church. The year 1851 is the official date the cornerstone was laid, and by 1856 the church membership was up to nearly 140 people. The present building is located within 70 yards of the original site, on the same street. Membership is currently about 400.
