Who we are
Redeemer Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, a church body comprised of some 2.5 million members and some 6,000 congregations. We trace our roots back to the Protestant Reformation, begun on October 31, 1517, when a young monk named Martin Luther nailed 95 theses or propositions onto a church door. Actually, we trace our roots back much farther than that. We are part of the historic Christian Church born in Acts 2 on the Day of Pentecost.
As part of that larger, historic Christian Church, Redeemer is a small yet vibrant congregation made up of loving and dedicated Christian people of all ages. The Christian faith we confess is not simply a list of rules for living right, nor is it a way of life that guarantees health, wealth, and prosperity. Christianity is about a God who loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die for us. Lutheran Christians are sinners saved by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ.
Redeemer Lutheran Church was organized on May 24, 1952, with 13 communicant members. The first church home was at the corner of Roane and Barnett Streets in Harriman. The present church site in Midtown was purchased in 1962, and our current facility was dedicated May 31, 1964. Twenty years later, the present facility was expanded and a new education unit was built. Extensive renovations to both the interior and exterior of the building, including covering the entire building with stone siding, were completed in 1994.

Listen, my friend!
Listen, my friend! Your helplessness is your best prayer. It calls from your heart to the heart of God with greater effect than all your uttered pleas. He hears it from the very moment that you are seized with helplessness, and He becomes actively engaged at once in hearing and answering the prayer of your helplessness.
