Who we are
Rosedale is a small, friendly, group of people who believe that eternal life can only be received in Jesus Christ. As born again believers we seek to worship God daily in our attitudes, activities and words, and we desire to proclaim salvation in Jesus Christ to the city of Welland and around the world.
God has saved us from sin, and God has called us out of the world, and God has gathered us together to glorify Him in worship; to grow as disciples through learning and obeying the Word of God; to encourage and build one another up in love; and to reach out to the lost with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We want to invite you to join in our worship services, our small groups, our times of prayer, and in our studies in the Word of God. If you have not yet experienced the power of God’s salvation through Jesus Christ we invite you to seek God until He finds you. It would be our privilege to answer any of your questions or to pray with you about any concerns in your life.

Leader Bio:
Rev. John Bellingham was born and raised here in the Niagara Region. John came on staff in April 2012 as a Pastoral Intern and became the Lead Pastor at Rosedale in April 2013. He is an ordained minister of the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptists in Canada (FEB). Before discerning God’s call to pastoral ministry here in Welland, he served for seven years as a Chaplain for college and university students in Montreal with Power to Change Canada (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ). John’s preparation for vocational ministry began at the University of Guelph where he studied Biology and got involved with InterVarsity and Campus Crusade.
In 2010 Pastor John graduated from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago (MDiv) and in 2014 he completed an MA in Historical Theology from McGill University. In his spare time John enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and keeping his old Jeep pickup on the road.
John is passionate about teaching and preaching the Word of God and has a vision for Rosedale to impact our neighbourhood for the glory of God and for the joy of all the people whom God has placed here. Pastor John is committed to an expository style of preaching, which means that we unfold and apply the message of the Bible in such a way that the main point of the text becomes the main point of the sermon. Our normal practice is to preach through entire books of the Bible chapter by chapter and verse by verse.
You can listen to any of John’s sermons online by clicking on the following link: [Sunday Sermons]. John is also committed to a missional vision for our church family. God’s call on our fellowship is to proclaim the gospel without compromise and to live every day in the light of our profession of faith. We are saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, but the faith that truly saves is always accompanied by good works and spiritual growth.

Rosedale Baptist Church History
Rosedale Baptist Church has been a vibrant Evangelical presence in Welland since 1918. Originally planted by First Baptist, Rosedale was located at the corner of East Main and Scholfield for a number of decades. Rosedale became an autonomous congregation in 1938, outgrew the original building and moved to its current location in 1969. We are a member congregation of the Canadian Fellowship of Evangelical Baptists, a network of churches which spans the country from coast to coast.
Rosedale is home to a growing family which is committed to the unchanging gospel of Jesus Christ and looks to the Bible as our final authority. God’s Word teaches that we were created by the Triune God to glorify Him and to enjoy Him forever. Tragically, each one of us have fallen short of God’s perfect standard and our sin separates us from a perfectly holy God. The Bible reveals God’s plan to bring us back into relationship with Him through the death and resurrection of Jesus, His only Son, who willingly died in our place for the sins of every believer. We begin an exciting new life with God the moment we put our faith in Jesus, repent of our sin and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. It is in the context of a local group of believers, called the ‘Church’ that this new life in Christ is lived out.
When you visit Rosedale you can expect a warm, friendly atmosphere, opportunities to investigate the basics of Christianity or to grow deeper in your relationship with Christ, strong Christ-centered preaching and teaching, an uplifting blend of contemporary and traditional music and an emphasis on building strong families.
