Rosetown Alliance Church History
Rosetown Alliance Church’s history dates back to 1953.
At the 1953 Saskatchewan Pastor’s Prayer retreat in February, after a morning of prayer and discussion, it was decided to start a work in Rosetown. After consultation with Rev. George Blackett, the District Superintendent and Rev. Wilf Dickau of Milden the decision was made to go ahead. As a result plans were announced for a week of meetings on April 20-26, 1953.
Attendance at the first meeting was 25 and grew to 75 at the Friday night service. The first church service was held in the old Elks Hall on April 27, 1953 with 50 people present. Sunday School began on October 18.
It was at a Bible Study and Prayer meeting that Rev. Dickau announced a building fund was starting and laid down the first $10 bill. Mrs. Margaret Hamel donated $800 to purchase the lot on the 800 block of Main Street in December of 1953.
With help from folks from Kindersley and Milden construction began. The project was supervised by Charles MacDonald and his brother, Jim. Spruce trees were donated by Jake and Theresa Ediger.
The first service was held on October 31, 1954.
The original pledge from the June 5th service reads,
“To the proclamation of the Word of God, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ; to the salvation of souls and deepening spiritual life; we dedicate this building.
As a house of worship and prayer, as a place of fellowship and praise; for the instruction of childhood, for the guidance and training of youth and for the building of Christian character do dedicate this sanctuary.
To the promotion of unity among God’s people; to the edifying of the body of Christ and as a witness and testimony for Christ in our town and to the souls in heathen darkness we humbly dedicate this building.
To God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost, Eternal, Holy and Glorious Trinity: WE DEDICATE THIS CHURCH.”
In the late 1970’s the congregation outgrew the building on Main Street and in 1980 construction began on the present 17,000 square foot building. The building price was $339,000. It was formally dedicated on Easter Sunday, 1981.

I want Thy plan, O God
I want Thy plan, O God, for my life. May I be happy and contented whether in the homeland or on the foreign field; whether married or alone, in happiness or sorrow, health or sickness, prosperity or adversity - I want Thy plan, O God, for my life. I want it; oh, I want it.
