Who we are
St.John of Rila Bulgarian Orthodox Church is a small but loving family church. We have a devoted core group of members that support the church with their hard work and efforts. As any church, we conduct weddings, baptisms, funerals, confessions, house blessings, etc.
St.John of Rila Bulgarian Orthodox Church is comprised of a small community of Bulgarian families from the Niagara Region. We also have many that visit us from Toronto and Buffalo.
We welcome new members to our congregation. The fees are $40/yr for a family and $35/yr for a single. By becoming a member you have voting rights at our annual church meeting.
The church basement is also for rent for events such as birthday parties, anniversary parties, name days, etc. The rate is $25/hr with a minimum 2 hour rental.

Saint John of Rila Bulgarian Orthodox Church History
The church was formed in 1967 and at the time was the first and only Bulgarian Orthodox Church in North America. The church was named after St.John of Rila, the Rila Monastery in Bulgaria. It is a monastery that was built almost 1000 years ago and still to this day is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Bulgaria for its architecture, art and natural beauty.
