Rev. Borneman has been serving at Second Presbyterian since October 2010. Raised in Snellville, GA, he is a graduate of Samford University (B.A. Classics, ’05) and of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Boston (MDiv, ThM Historical Theology, ’09).
The greatest threat to Adam’s well-being is his addiction to Braves baseball and insatiable appetite for Indian food. In his spare time, he enjoys cycling, tennis, racquetball, baseball, and long walks with his much better looking wife Jessica.

Second Presbyterian Church History
For over 125 years, Second Presbyterian Church has, by God’s grace, endured as a community of faith, hope, and love in the midst of an ever-changing and rapidly growing Birmingham. Why “Second” Presbyterian Church? Such a title suggests an antecedent – a connection and shared history with First Presbyterian Church. Indeed, Second Presbyterian church began as a mission of First Presbyterian Church in 1882. In 1884, the mission was organized as a church and located at the corner of Third Avenue and Eleventh Street South.
In order to establish a location closer to its parishioners, the church moved to its current location on Columbiana Road and began worship at the current location in 1965. Without skipping a beat, Second Presbyterian continued on its journey of faith, and has since persevered through all of life’s challenges that span over several generations. God to continues to bless our congregation with a renewed vision, desire, and energy to serve Christ and the world around us. By God’s grace, we continue to increase in faith and number, and we look forward to our ongoing participation in God’s mission to the world.
