Who we are
Southside Baptist Church's Covenant
Church Covenant
Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, we do now in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.
We engage therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love, to strive for the advancement of this Church, in knowledge, holiness and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines; to give it a sacred pre-eminence over all institutions of human origin; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the Church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel through all nations.
We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger; to abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating drinks as a beverage and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Saviour.
We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the rule of our Saviour to secure it without delay.
We moreover, engage that when we remove from this place we will as soon as possible unite with some other Church, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God's Word.

Leader Bio:
I have been Pastor at Southside Baptist for 31 years. Most of my ministry has been here in this Church. I started out as Associate in 1971, and continued till I left to Pastor, at Central Baptist Church in Lewisville Texas in 1982. I returned to Southside in 1986. Nothing would please me more than to finish out my ministry in this great church.
God has blessed me and my wife Kathy with a fruitful ministry. Our children Keith and Tammie grew up here and are now married and serving the Lord with their spouses.
'Souls our sole concern' has been our theme from the beginning. Over the years we have seen many souls saved and folks added to the Church. God has blest us every year of our ministry for which we are grateful. We think some of the best years are yet ahead.
We invite you to come and be a part of this great work!
God bless you,
Pastor and Mrs. Taylor

Southside Baptist Church History
Southside Baptist Church's History
Our Church has a rich heritage from which to build on. In 1948, with direction from God, William Beall and his wife Nannie left Fort Worth, Texas and came to Denison, and established Southside Baptist Church. The church grew very quickly and occupied four different buildings at the corner of Mirick and Owing Street. Rev. Beall left Denison in 1953 to Pastor in Sulphur Springs, Texas at the Central Baptist Church.
Rev. Wayne Imboden came as Pastor in July of 1953. The Church moved to its present location 1131 South Scullin on July 29th, 1962.
Rev. Imboden, and his wife Lillie Mae, served the Lord faithfully until Bro. Imboden's death December 31, 1985; thus fulfilling 32 years of ministry at Southside Baptist Church.
Rev. Keith Taylor came as Pastor on March 17, 1986. He and Kathy have been at Southside over 29 years. Under his ministry the Church has totally remodeled and added on to its present facility, and built a gym/fellowship hall. It has also expanded its property to owning the whole block. Southside Baptist Church is now in the process of relocation, to a new building & facilities, after being at its present address, 1131 S. Scullin Ave. since 1962.
Southside Baptist Church is a church with a vision. A vision for reaching this city, and world for Christ. The Church supports over 100 missionary families, 2 Bible Colleges, Texoma Baptist Youth Camp, and many Home Mission Projects.
As we have moved into our new worship facility at 3500 South Park Avenue on April 3rd, 2011, we look forward to serving our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, until He comes again for us. Our desire is to see more lost people come to know Jesus as their personal Savior and serve Him faithfully, telling the world that there is hope and peace in knowing Jesus!!
