Who we are
What We Believe
CAN WE KNOW GOD?
The big question is can we know God, or even be known by God? At Southside we believe that God shows himself to us clearly in Jesus. As Jesus entered into a real time and place in history, we see who God is, what God is like, and what that means for us.
THE GOD OF LOVE
All through the Bible we see that God is a God of love. This is a great idea, but means nothing if we don't see what that actually means or looks like.
As we look to Jesus, what we see is God's love on display. God loved the world that Jesus died for the world, so that whoever believes in him can have life. A life of purpose here and now, and a hope for eternity later.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR ME?
As a church, we know that God's love isn't just for the people that have it all together. We know God loves the world - all people - whether you are young, old, male, female, broken, weak, lost, questioning, confused, or anything else.
We also know that God's love isn't given to those who do the right things, but to those who trust in Jesus who has done everything. That's why Christianity is based on Jesus' death and resurrection.
If you are not sure about Jesus and want to find out more about what we believe, we’d love for you to come and check Church out. We'll shout you a coffee, sit down with you and figure out how we can help you know God's love more.

Under 12s:
At Southside we believe kids are an amazing gift and incredibly important. And so we run Kid’s Church where we long to see kid’s lives transformed through Jesus Christ to the glory of God.
To begin with, for children up to 3 years old, Crèche is provided. It’s here that they are encouraged to know and trust in Jesus through play.
The next step is for children in Kindergarten to grade 7. They are connected into Kid’s Church where they are encouraged to believe and trust in Jesus and live for him. The children are taught from the Bible through stories, craft, songs, drama, games and small group discussion.

Southside Presbyterian Church History
Southside Presbyterian Church has always been a church focused on about Jesus.
Our goal has always been to speak about Jesus’ life, death and resurrection to the people living on the Southside of Brisbane. We thought the best way to do this was to meet in the heart of the Southside each week and so we began to do this for the first time on a Sunday in 1984.
We first met in the Science Block at Macgregor State High School.
As time went on, we began to slowly achieve the goals we set out with. By God’s grace, people began seeing Jesus and experiencing the hope we have in his life, death and resurrection. We grew, and so after 5 years in Macgregor State High School were able to move further into the heart of Brisban’s Southside.
In 1989 we purchased land in Eight Mile Plains, but only began meeting there in 1991. We were known as Macgregor Presbyterian Church, and it was here that we would meet together to further our goals in encouraging each other and reaching the Southside of Brisbane.
We were again able to experience growth, and soon enough two services began at Macgregor, an 8:30 service and a 10:30 service.
After much discussion in the late 2000’s, we decided a few changes were necessary to continue to reach the Southside of Brisbane. We began to meet in a different building (the Life Development Centre on the corner of London Street and Logan Road in Eight Mile Plains) and changed our name to Southside Presbyterian Church. We changed our name because our goal was not simply to tell Macgregor or Eight Mile Plains about Jesus, but all of the Southside of Brisbane.
Southside also believed that to help continue this mission we would need to move from the little house at Padstow Road into bigger facilities. In March 2015, Southside purchased a property in the Brisbane Technology Park. The new location is 30 McKechnie Drive, Eight Mile Plains. We currently meet here during the week for different ministries, and are hoping to meet here on a Sunday by mid 2016.
Even though we experienced a lot of change since meeting in Macgregor State High School in 1984, our goal has always remained the same: We want to tell people about Jesus
This is Southside’s story, and we’re hoping and praying God continues to add to this story – whatever the future holds.

Help my unbelief
Dear God, help my unbelief. When I'm in pain, I forget that you care about me. I forget that you have helped me through my trials. I forget that you hold me in your arms to keep me safe. I forget that you are feeling my pain with me. I forget that you love me, I forget that I am important to you. Show me your presence - let me feel your enveloping love. Heal my hurting soul. Thank you for staying with me even in my unbelief.
