성안나 성당의 역사
성안나 성당은 지난 100년 동안 캘거리의 발전과 그 맥을 함께 했으며, 많은 이민자들의 안식처가 되어 왔습니다. 성안나 성당은 1900년대 초 캘거리의 산업 발달과 이민자의 유입에 따라 1910년12월16일 리갈 주교가 성안나 본당 사목구를 설립함으로써 100년 역사를 시작했습니다.
그러나 산업 중심지 이동으로 이 지역의 인구 유출이 증가하자 성안나 본당 신자들도 급격히 감소, 2001년 8월부터는 몇 달간 성당을 폐쇄해야만 하는 상황도 겪게 되었 습니다. 이에 당시 늘어나는 신자수로 새로운 성당을 찾고 있던 캘거리 한인본당이 2002년 성안나 성당을 인수, 오늘에 이르게 되었습니다. 설립 100주년을 맞은 성안나 성당은 교구에서 두 번째로 오랜 역사를 지닌 성당입니다.
특히 성안나 성당에는 안나 성인의 제1급 유골을 비롯해 제대 대리석 아래에는 순교자 성 클라로, 성 빅토리나, 성 요아킴, 성 라우렌시오, 성 아우구스티노 주교 등 여러 성인 들의 유해가 안치되어 있습니다.
The history of St. Anna's Cathedral
St. Anna's Cathedral has been part of the development of Calgary over the past 100 years and has been a haven for many immigrants. St. Anna's Cathedral began its 100-year history in the early 1900s, following Calgary's industrial development and the influx of immigrants, when the Regal Bishop founded St. Anna's parish pastoral district on December 16, 1910.
However, as the outflow of population in the area increased due to the movement of the industrial center, the number of believers in the parish of St. Anna also sharply declined, and from August 2001, the church had to be closed for several months. As a result, the Korean Catholic Church in Calgary, who was looking for a new cathedral with an increasing number of believers at the time, took over St. Anna's Cathedral in 2002, and it is today. St. Anna's Cathedral, celebrating its 100th anniversary, is the second oldest cathedral in the parish.
In particular, the remains of several saints are enshrined in St. Anna's Cathedral, including the first-class remains of St. Anna, as well as the remains of St. Claro, St. Victorina, St. Joachim, St. Laurenceo, and Bishop St. Augustine under the altar marble.
