Who we are
WELCOME TO ST. BARNABAS!
Our patron saint is called “Son of Encouragement” and we aim to imitate his spirit of prayer and reassurance within our parish community. Regardless of where you might be in your spiritual life, we invite you to join us as we journey together in faith.
What defines the people at St. Barnabas?
We’d like to think of ourselves as a community of GIVING, SHARING and RECEIVING.
Why giving? Because we try our best to open our hearts to others through our stewardship, our social ministries and our fellowship with one another.
Why sharing? Because we have a passion to share our faith by teaching and evangelizing.
Why receiving? Because we know that without faith, without worship and especially without the Eucharist we are nothing.
Come join us and become a part of something! Become a part of Christ at St. Barnabas!

Leader Bio:
Born in Seoul, Korea on the Feast Day of St. Anthony of Padua, Fr. Hansoo Antonio Park is the only son and youngest of three siblings. His family moved to Canada in February 1990. He entered the formation for the priesthood at Serra House and St. Augustine’s Seminary in Toronto, and was ordained on May 14th 2005.
Fr. Hansoo’s first assignment was at Blessed Trinity Parish in North York as an Associate Pastor. His second assignment was at St. Francis Xavier Parish in Mississauga, also as an Associate Pastor. Thereafter, he was assigned as the Vocations Director and Rector of Serra House, the Philosophy Seminary of the Archdiocese of Toronto. In this position, he journeyed with many men and women as a spiritual leader and joyful role model. This is one of Fr. Hansoo’s favourite things about priestly life – “Being able to walk and journey with people.”
Fr. Hansoo is now the Pastor of St. Barnabas Parish in Scarborough. In his new role, he hopes to continue walking with others; hearing confessions, and sharing in the lives of his parishioners. After coming to the parish, he was also excited to discover that the altar contains first-class relics of three Canadian Martyrs, St. Gabriel Lalemant, St. Isaac Jogues & St. Jean de Brébeuf (who happens to be one of his favourite Saints).
Hobbies & Interests: Hockey, golf, football & rock climbing
Patron Saints: St. Thérèse of Lisieux, “The Little Flower” & St. Jean de Brébeuf and Companions
Favourite Bible Verse:
2 Corinthians 4: 7 - “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not to us.”
2 Corinthians 5: 7 - “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

I ask for...
I ask you neither for health nor for sickness, for life nor for death; but that you may dispose of my health and my sickness, my life and my death, for your glory... You alone know what is expedient for me; you are the sovereign master, do with me according to your will. Give to me, or take away from me, only conform my will to yours. I know but one thing, Lord, that it is good to follow you, and bad to offend you. Apart from that, I know not what is good or bad in anything. I know not which is most profitable to me, health or sickness, wealth or poverty, nor anything else in the world. That discernment is beyond the power of men or angels, and is hidden among the secrets of your providence, which I adore, but do not seek to fathom.
