St Dunstan's Church Keynsham Photos

St Dunstan's Church History
St Dunstan’s serves Keynsham and Saltford and outlying villages. The foundation of the Church building at Keynsham was laid by Bishop Lee on 16th March 1935 and the first Mass was celebrated on 20 October of the same year.
Before that time local Catholics had to travel to Bath or Knowle, so in spite of the small numbers of Catholics in the area the Bishop decided that there should be a church in Keynsham. From 2004 the church underwent much renovation and in 2009 a beautiful mural of the of the tree of life was commissioned for the Sanctuary Wall by the American/Argentinian muralist Marcelo Lavalen in time for Easter 2009. The mysteries of the Old and New Testament are depicted in the form of birds in the Tree. In September 2009 Marcelo returned to England to paint a vibrant mural of Christ in Majesty in the Eastern Iconographic style.

Lord Jesus, master of both the light and the darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas. We who have so much to do seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day. We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us. We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom. We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence. We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light. To you we say, "Come Lord Jesus!"
