Who we are
We proclaim Christ crucified and risen, and invite you to join with us in ministry together in his name.
St. James Episcopal Church is a place to grow spiritually, a place to make new friends, a place to serve God with your own special talents. For over 150 years, St. James has continued its mission of service to members of the parish and the greater community of our neighborhood, the city and the world. Whether you are searching for a new church home from another Christian faith, are new to Baton Rouge and seeking an Episcopal Church, or elsewhere on your faith journey, we invite you to join us in worship and fellowship.
St. James is located in downtown Baton Rouge on Convention at N. Fourth Street. You will appreciate the spiritual atmosphere of our historic English Gothic Revival church. Free parking is available across the street, and our professionally staffed nursery for infants and toddlers is open during the Sunday morning services, but children are equally welcome at all our services.

Fifth Sundays
On the fifth Sunday of any month, about four times a year, we have a special mid-morning celebration at 10:30 a.m. with a focus on outreach. We'll have breakfast before the service, to which all our neighbors living on the streets are invited, in Bishops Hall. Parishioners are invited and encouraged to help welcome and serve our guests, as well as share in the meal. On occasion, we may serve a later meal or distribute boxed meals.
Weekday Services
Mondays at 8:20 a.m., school days only
A slightly modified service of Morning Prayer, geared toward our school children, but all are welcome to come start the work week with prayer and praise.
Wednesdays at noon - Holy Eucharist
Held in the Chapel of the Twelve Apostles, this service of Holy Eucharist, Rite 2 also provides opportunity for special prayers of healing (Unction).
Fridays at 8:20 a.m., school days only
A service of Holy Eucharist, Rite II, with readings, singing, and prayers led by the Day School students. All are welcome.
Visitors are always welcome at St. James, where we are steeped in tradition, but not mired in it.

Make me stand out
Father, make of me a crisis man. Bring those I contact to decision. Let me not be a milepost on a single road; make me a fork, that men must turn one way or another on facing Christ in me.
