St. James' Episcopal Church Q&A
Question: What to Expect at St. James?
Answer: You will find that St. James offers a traditional Episcopal service, using The Book of Common Prayer and observing a Church Calendar that varies the service according to the time of the Church Year. The service itself is about an hour long, followed by coffee and refreshments in Fellowship Hall. Our Choir is a blessing that never stops giving, and the acoustics of our historic Sanctuary show their talents to the glory of God!
On most Sundays, St. James offers a traditional Eucharist, or Holy Communion. According to the Episcopal Church of America:
'It goes by several names: Holy Communion, the Eucharist (which literally means 'thanksgiving'), mass. But whatever it’s called, this is the family meal for Christians and a foretaste of the heavenly banquet. As such, all persons who have been baptized, and are therefore part of the extended family that is the Church, are welcome to receive the bread and wine, and be in communion with God and each other.'
The Holy Eucharist can be found on pp. 316-399 of the Book of Common Prayer: We thank you ... for assuring us in these holy mysteries that we are living members of the Body of your Son, and heirs of your eternal kingdom' (Book of Common Prayer, p. 366).
Question: What should I wear?
Answer: Come as you are and be welcome at St. James. If you are more comfortable in casual clothes, you'll fit in perfectly. If you like to wear your 'Sunday Best,' you will fit in just as well.Question: What about children?
Answer: Young people and children are welcome at St. James. We have a bright and fun play room for young children. Older youth can visit with each other in Fellowship Hall and join the Congregation for the Blessing/Communion. At St. James, we want you and your family to be comfortable, so if you have a need, let us know! For more information

Question: How can I become a Member?
Answer: Our service and Communion is open to everyone. You can become a member of St. James by committing yourself to the Church and experiencing a formal welcome to the Congregation, which we celebrate during the Sunday service. If you are a member of another Episcopal Church and wish to transfer your membership to St. James, you may do so by having your former church notify us in writing.Street Address

Inspire my thoughts
Holy Spirit of God, visit now this soul of mine, and tarry within it until the eventide. Inspire all my thoughts. Pervade all my imaginations. Suggest all my decisions. Lodge in my soul's most inward citadel, and order all my doings. Be with me in silence and in my speech, in my haste and in my leisure, in company and in solitude, in the freshness of the morning and the weariness of the evening. Give me grace at all times to rejoice in Thy mysterious companionship.
