St James Service Times

Family-Feast@Four-Thirty
A service for families that's very different. There's games to play, crafts, games etc, worship & lots of food! The timings given are the usual but it has to change from time to time so do check by looking at our services for the month.
Every fourth Sunday at 4:30 PM for 1 hour
 
First Sunday Unevensong
Expect only the Unexpected.
An opportunity to experience those forms of worship, prayer and praise that are not a constant in our cycle of services.
Every first at 6:30 PM for ¾ hour
 
Songs of praise
We mark our villages celebration of the Queen's 90th bithday and that she is our longest reinging monarch with Songs of Praise.
Street parties are being held in both Peaskake [on Satuday 11 June] and Shere [to-day]
Sunday 12th June 2016 at 10:00 AM for 1 hour
 
Fathers' Day
We mark this a non Communion service in Shere Village Hall at 10am.
There'll be Bacon butties to start things off.
We'll celebrate Fathers' Day with music, games, readings, prayers and
craft (for the younger children);
Sunday 19th June 2016 at 9:45 AM for 1 hour
 
Tent Service
To-day we worship as a United Benefice and the normal main Sunday morning services in individual parishes are replaced by one Service for all.
This Service is held in the marquee erected on Albury Heath used the previous day for the Produce Show and evening Barn Dance. Parking is easy and plentiful around the edge of the heath and there are loos adjacent to the marquee.
It is a service suitable for all ages with hymns, songs, prayers, reading(s) and a talk. The length given is approximate.
It will be followed by refreshments of wine, soft drinks & nibbles.
Stay on for the Albury Free Festival, Bands, BBQ, Bar, Ice Cream, Teas, Face painting & Bouncy castles. It's for everyone, bring granny & the dog.

Holy Communion
Based on the Book of Common Prayer. If you're unfamiliar with the layout of the BCP there's an extract in booklet form to follow. We use the Common Worship Collect & Lectionary readings. If there's no 8am service in Shere there's one in Peaslake.
Every first and third Sunday at 8:00 AM for 40 minutes
5th Sunday Holy Communion

Every fifth Sunday at 8:00 AM for 40 minutes
2nd Sunday Parish Communion
Common Worship (sung). On the second Sunday of the month Sunday Explorers [Sunday School] in the village school and join us as we receive Communion.
Every second Sunday at 10:00 AM for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
4th Sunday Parish Communion
Common Worship (sung). There are Orders of Service to follow. The liturgy changes with the church's seasons. From time to time we have a Parish Communion with Baptism in a Family Friendly service. If there's no 10am service in Shere, there's one in Peaslake.
Every fourth Sunday at 10:00 AM for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
5th Sunday 10am Service

Family Service
Songs, prayers (which are often said by children), Bible reading and/or talk or drama specifically designed for children & their families.

Evening Prayer

Every Monday at 8:00 AM for ½ hour
'Little Fishes'
With among other things bells, rattles and drums, this is a weekly service especially for mothers, fathers, carers, babies and toddlers. Lasting 30 minutes there are Bible related stories, children's prayers and music followed by coffee.
How long you stay is up to you!
There's a break for Christmas, Easter, Bank Holidays and the summer holidays. The Weekly Notes always show it along with other weekday services.

'Prayers at 9'
A quiet half hour of prayer and meditation, usually on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month except in August.
Every second and fourth Thursday at 9:00 AM for ½ hour
Communion
We use both the Book of Common Prayer and Common Worship liturgies. Whichever is being used, we use the Common Worship Collect and Lectionary at all these services and there are large print copies of the Liturgy. Those whose names are in the Book of Remembrance in Shere for a particular month are remembered on the last Thursday of that month.

The power of Christian prayer Help my unbelief
Dear God, help my unbelief. When I'm in pain, I forget that you care about me. I forget that you have helped me through my trials. I forget that you hold me in your arms to keep me safe. I forget that you are feeling my pain with me. I forget that you love me, I forget that I am important to you. Show me your presence - let me feel your enveloping love. Heal my hurting soul.
