Who we are
St. John the Baptist Parish, established in 1903, is a large, predominantly Hispanic Community. Throughout our history, we have been influenced by a Franciscan spirituality and a devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe. We are a culturally rich community, which is revealed by our deep spirit of prayer and evangelization. This shows itself in our ministries and organizations, including our commitment to youth. Through our participation in an ongoing renewal process, we are expanding and developing our faith life and forming team ministries with other parishes.
As a people, we are committed to witnessing our baptismal covenant in our lives as family, church, and community in a contemporary society. We commit ourselves to seek unity in our diversity as a people, and to confront the problems of racial prejudice, poverty, alcohol, drugs, and violence that affect both our families and our Parish.
Our faith in Jesus Christ and our love for one another call us to be a stewardship community wherein we:
“Pray for one another; feed, nurture, console each other through our loving, encouraging, and welcoming all people, especially broken and separated members.”

Open our ears to hear
Blessed Lord, open our ears to hear what Thou speakest and our eyes to see as Thou seest. Give us hearts to beat in sympathy with Thine at the sight of every little child; and above all, our Lord, to understand and experience how surely and how blessedly Thou fulfilest Thy promise, "Whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me."
