Who we are
West Weald Parish is a group of Anglican churches serving the communities of Handcross, Pease Pottage, Slaugham, Staplefield and Warninglid at the western tip of the Sussex High Weald. We exist to provide safe and welcoming spaces for worship, discipleship, fellowship and encounters with the risen Jesus.
Regular worship services and events take place at St Mary’s Slaugham, St Mark’s Staplefield and All Saints Handcross.
Built in 1848 out of Cuckfield Parish, St Mark’s has a rich history. It is clear from the moment you enter that it has had a very artistic influence over the years and is home to a beautiful mural by Kempe which was recently restored. People often describe St Mark’s as a hidden gem and it is easy to see why. St Mark’s also has a primary school next door.
We have weekly services in the church at 9am on Tuesdays (term-time) with the school and 9am on Sundays.
The Church is open every day 9am-4pm.
