Leader Bio:
I am Rev Hannah Moore, I was born in Bedfordshire but moved to South Africa as a child in 1979 and remained there for 23 years. I qualified as a teacher and taught primary school for a few years before leaving to work on a titanium mining project as a Cost Controls Manager. On my return to England in 2002, I lived in Fleet with husband Michael, and our children Rachael and Reuben. We attended The Church on Heath and I became involved in leading holiday clubs, playing in the worship group and eventually leading and preaching at services. During this time, I set up a business with my sister and my mum offering afterschool art and craft clubs in schools in Surrey and Hampshire. I ran this business for fourteen years before being ordained.
I undertook my theological training at St Mellitus College in London. During my training, I worked at the Parish of Fleet as a Children and Families Worker and Church on the Heath as a Minister in Training. I have served my curacy in the Parish of Badshot Lea and Hale in the churches of St George’s, St John’s and St Mark’s. I have enjoyed being part of the community in North Farnham for the last three and half years.
As a family, Michael, Rachael, Reuben and I are enjoying our move to Elstead. I am excited to share my ministry in the Parishes of Elstead, Thursley, Shackleford and Peper Harow. We had a real sense that God was calling us to these parishes for the next season of my ministry. I want to be able to share my faith by living it out and I am inspired to action by the words of the prayer after Communion which calls us to be a “living sacrifice” and “to live and work for God’s praise and glory.”
When I am not working, I love spending time with my family playing cards and board games and watching DVDs. Holidays are an important time for us all to catch up as a family as Michael is a teacher, Rachael works as a special educational needs assistant in a school and Reuben is just about to complete his GCSEs. We are a family of animal lovers so you may see us around walking our two miniature Dachshunds and our Springer/Clumber cross Spaniel. We also have three cats, a fish tank of tropical fish and a fishpond.
Apart from spending time with my family I love reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, making scale wooden models of boats, often getting my fingers stuck together with superglue. I enjoy watching all kinds of sport on television. I am a life-long Liverpool supporter, so I keep a weekly check on the scores and am very happy this season! I am passionate about cricket, supporting England’s men and women, and watch it whenever I get the chance.
I am looking forward to getting to know you and seeing you at the churches and out and about in the community.

St Michael & All Angels History
St Michael and All Angels dates back to the 11th century Saxon times and is a Grade 1 listed building. Two surviving Anglo–Saxon windows, which still retain their original wooden frames have painted woad decorations in each of the window recesses which is still visible. There is also a very finely carved Ango-Saxon font at the back of the church under the rear windows. In 2006 a vault underneath the chancel floor was discovered quite by chance. It was planned to position new fixings for the oak screen walls in front of the choir stalls and while inspecting the floor a single loose brick dropped into a void, Under investigation it exposed the surprising existence of an 18th century vault containing two coffins. Marble plaques above the choir stalls, give clues to the vaults inhabitants.
The church is well maintained, is situated at the heart of the village and has seating for 120. Our services average 20 adults and 6 children at Family Services, but numbers are substantially larger at Christmas, Easter, Harvest and Remembrance, usually +60 adults and 15 children. During 2018 there were 2 Baptisms, 2 Weddings and 4 Funerals. We have 69 registered voters on our Electoral Roll. Recent Fire Safety Regulations for the church recommended the capacity should not exceed 180 people. In 2006 much of Thursley Commons went up in flames – only a last minute shift in the direction of the wind saved the village from very serious damage. Later the interior of the church was reordered and the South Transept became the Vicar’s Vestry. To provide a suitable screen and doorway to the new Vestry Tracey Sheppard, a distinguished member of the Guild of Glass Engravers, was commissioned to engrave a pair of glass doors. She chose to depict the great fire on the Common. One door shows flames devouring all in its path and the other shows the Tree of Life gradually emerging from the ashes bringing rebirth and renewal back to the heathland. A book of remembrance kept in the Vestry lists the names of all who generously contributed to the cost of the project.
