Who we are

We are a Central City, Presbyterian church.

From a recent survey (2019) our church members identified the following as some of our church values we offer to our community in Whanganui:-

Inspiring teachings and value of the scriptures, warm and welcoming fellowship, participation in a joyful atmosphere, and a commitment to prayer .

One of our main strengths is a missional outreach to the community in finance, provision and people.

We are seeking God for revival, transformation and growth in all areas.

We are committed along with the other churches of Whanganui to make an impact and bring the Good news of Jesus Christ to our city and our world.

Hello my name is Shirley Spooner and I am the Locally Ordained Minister in Training here at St Paul’s-St Mark’s Church. I have been here since 2016. I was raised in a Presbyterian home and attended a country Presbyterian Church. Later in my twenties I attended Pentecostal style churches where I developed a passion for mission and attended their Bible College followed by some further mission papers. I have traveled to many countries doing short term missions.

Prior to coming to work at St Paul’s-St Mark’s I worked for the City Mission in Wanganui for 2 years as the Church and Community Liaison Person. Then God called me to serve at the church here as the Pastoral Care / Preacher and now I have entered the ministry.

It’s a joy to serve this amazing loving congregation who are very missional.

I am a person who honors God’s Word, loves Jesus, guided by the Holy Spirit and has a desire to see all people come into a living relationship with Jesus Christ our Lord.
