Who we are
St Peter's Chapel - on the Quay, is tucked away by the harbour. Very much loved it started life as the Gibraltar Chapel (1628) to offer prayers for those at sea. It spent some of its life as a salt storage cellar! A small space but none the less weddings and funerals take place there. Holy Communion is each Wednesday morning and Evensong twice a month. It has been considerably refurbished over the past decade. Two of the three stained glass windows were designed and made by members of the congregation during this time. The stained glass panel in the front window of St Peter's is older but also locally gifted. The beautiful communion rail which graces the altar space was made by local blacksmiths at Allerford Forge.
There is a PA system and electric organ. There is no water on site and no other facilities.
It can rightly be termed a haven of peace and tranquility for any who enter.
