Leader Bio:
Chris was Incumbent (Pastor and Rector) of St. Peter's since August 2004 till May 2019. Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Chris grew up mostly in Ottawa and England. At about age 12, while living in Ottawa, Chris committed his life to Christ. Following High School he attended the University of Toronto where he did his B.A. in Political Science and Commerce.
After working for several years as a truck-body assembler and as a real estate agent, Chris did his M.Div. and Th.M. degrees at Wycliffe College, University of Toronto, including a year of studies and travel in Asia.
During his years of study and travel, Chris faced a variety of challenges to his beliefs, and for a period of time renounced his faith. Nonetheless, for a range of reasons, Chris eventually returned to Christian faith, and so he speaks of having had two conversions to Christ - his first at the age of 12, his second at age 27.
Chris was ordained in Toronto in 1989, then served as Associate Priest in two parishes in the Anglican Diocese of Toronto, after which he moved to Montreal to do his PhD in Philosophy and Religious Studies at McGill University. While studying in Montreal, Chris met Fiona Crossling, and they were married in 1995.
In 1998 Chris and Fiona moved to India (first Bangalore then Chennai) where Chris taught theology and philosophy in several institutions, and where Fiona managed an NGO in Bangalore and later a software company in Chennai. They also helped to plant a church in Bangalore. While in India they adopted their two children, Devadas and Amudha, then returned to Canada in 2004.

St Peter's Church History
St. Peter’s Anglican, located at 900 Boulevard Laird in Town of Mount Royal, is a jewel of the municipality’s architectural and urban heritage. It occupies a prestigious site on one of TMR’s most beautiful thoroughfares, with peaceful, green surroundings that lend it inestimable value in residents’ memories and in the present day. It was built in 1940 to plans by the firm Perry, Luke and Little, in the English Gothic parish church style. It features a Norman-style bell tower, a sloped roof, and pointed arches over the doors and windows. The interior comprises columns and an open ceiling revealing roof trusses of British Columbia timber, lending the space a particular cachet. The lancet windows, with intensely coloured stained glass, are grouped in pairs. There is a cinquefoil rose window in the southeast wall of the chancel, above the altar, while the northwest wall houses a tall triple lancet window. There is another large stained-glass window at the east transept. Additions were later made to the original building.
