St Peter's Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church History
St. Peter’s Jacobite church, Phoenix began with just six families. The first planning meeting of the church was held on March 1st, 2006 at the premises of the St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church. Very Rev. Fr Sabu Thomas Corespicopa from St. Mary’s Jacobite Church, Los Angles extended his support and guidance to make available St. Mark Coptic church facility for us to conduct Holy Qurbana on a regular basis. The first Holy Qurbono was conducted on 12th of March, 2006. His Eminence Mor Titus Yeldho, The Archbishop of Malankara Arch Diocese of North America formally inaugurated and appointed Rev. Fr. Saji Markose as the vicar & President, Mr. Saju Skaria as Vice president, Mr. Kurian Abraham as Treasurer, Mr. Felix Mathews as Secretary, Mr. Bibbin Chacko and Mr. Saji Paul as Board members of the church. Many more Jacobite Syrian Christian families moved into Phoenix triggering a rapid growth of our church in 2006. By the end of the year 2006, we had a total of 18 families, who become a part in all aspects of the growth and success of our Church.
St. Peter’s Jacobite Church, Phoenix moved into its own property at 5600 S. 6th street, Phoenix, Arizona-85040, on August 14, 2008. We construct 3 Holy Altar in this new Church. One Holy Altar dedicated to Mother Mary, second one is dedicated to St. Gregorious of Parumala and Center Altar is dedicated to our patron St. Peter. The consecration ceremony of the new church facility was held on September 20, 2008 and first Holy Tri mass was held on September 21, 2008. Our chief celebrant for the Tri Mass was Arch Bishop His Eminence Mor Titus Yeldho, Very Rev. Fr. Varkey Mundackel, Very Rev. Fr. Sabu Thomas as co- celebrants, Very Rev Fr, Mathew Edathara and Rev. Fr Saji Markose assisted the Holy Tri Mass.
Today this church is functioning well with the support from registered members and associate members. Apart from members, associate members and other Christian faithful are regular participants of the church activities. Various spiritual organizations including Sunday School, St. Paul’s Prayer Fellowship, St. Mary’s Women’s League and Youth associations provide spiritual growth to the members and families. These organizations have performed outstandingly, making our Church in Phoenix a prominent member of the Malankara Archdiocese of North America.

Light of the World
Jesus, the Light of the World, as we celebrate your birth... may we begin to see the world in the light of understanding you give us. As you chose the lowly, the outcasts, and the poor to receive the greatest news the world had ever known, so may we worship you in meekness of heart. May we also remember our brothers and sisters less fortunate than ourselves in this season of giving. Amen.
