Who we are
The Anglican Parish of Christ Church, Meaford and St. James’, Fairmount consists of these two churches in the beautiful southern Georgian Bay area – one located in Meaford right on the Bay, and the other up on the Niagara Escarpment overlooking the Beaver Valley. We serve as two congregations but one parish – “Together in Faith” – to minister to the communities of Meaford and Grey Highlands, as the centre of a living Christian presence, as we have done throughout the past 150 years.
Our purpose is to know Christ and to make Christ known in a living church, in worship, in service and in life.
The parish, which consists of a wide cross-section of people of all ages and backgrounds, welcomes people who wish to explore and put into action their faith through a variety of groups as well as at our worship together.
One of the great things about the parish is indeed the wide variety of ways that we come together. We enjoy meeting both as congregations and as a parish at relaxed and informal occasions, special events and celebrations.

The Rev. Brendon Bedford joined the Christ Church community as the parish's Assistant Curate in May of 2022.
Fr. Brendon is originally from Scarborough, Ontario where he lived until departing for post-secondary studies, having worshiped at St. Jude's Anglican Church (Wexford). He studied Political Science and Music at the University of Waterloo, being granted a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts (Political Science), and was active in the St. Bede's Chapel community at Rension University College.
After a period of time working within the Government of Ontario, Brendon relocated to Kitchener and began work in Advancement and Alumni Affairs at Renison University College, the Anglican affiliated college at the University of Waterloo, where he worked to build and support relationships between the College and various stakeholders.
During this time, Brendon discerned a call to ordained ministry in the Anglican Church and began his seminary education at Huron University College, being granted a Master of Divinity degree in 2022.
Brendon was ordained to the Diaconate on the Feast of St. Andrew in 2021 and began to serve as Deacon Assistant to the Rector at the Church of the Holy Saviour (Waterloo).
He was appointed as Assistant Curate of Christ Church in May 2022 and relocated to Meaford with his wife and two children. Fr. Brendon was ordained to the priesthood on the Eve of Pentecost in 2022 at St. George's Anglican Church, Owen Sound.
Fr. Brendon is passionate about liturgy and sacred music in the Anglican tradition, growing and serving the parish community, and engaging with the wider community around the parish with an eye to mission and service.
In 2023, Brendon was appointed by the Bishop as the Chaplain to the Brotherhood of Anglican Churchmen (Diocese of Huron) and was elected to the board of the Grey Bruce Spiritual Care Council.
Fr. Brendon is also an ardent Toronto Maple Leafs fan who believes there is something to be learned about Christian patience, waiting, and hope by supporting this team.
