Who we are
What We Believe
We believe that the 66 books of the King James Bible are the preserved and inspired Word of God for this generation. We believe that the Bible is without any errors and is our sole Authority for all matters of faith and practice.
We believe in the Holy Trinity, that there is one God Who has eternally existed as the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. Each person of the Godhead is fully God.
We believe that God created the world and the entire universe in six, literal, 24-hour days as recorded in Genesis. We do not believe in the day-age theory or any other theory that attempts to reconcile evolution with the Bible. God created the world out of nothing by speaking His Word.
We believe Jesus Christ is fully God from the beginning. His earthly existence began when He was begotten by the Holy Ghost of the virgin, Mary. Jesus Christ lived a perfect, sinless life. He was fully God, yet fully man. We believe He shed His Blood on the Cross for our sins. He was buried, and bodily arose from the grave. He ascended up to Heaven from whence He will return one day.
We believe that all men are born with the sin nature inherited from Adam. This sin nature manifests itself in all mankind. All men, apart from the saving grace of God, will spend eternity in Hell as punishment from a Holy God.
We believe that salvation is by grace, through faith. Man cannot work or earn his way to Heaven. Salvation comes by trusting in the finished work of Jesus Christ. When a person trusts in and relies upon the Blood of Christ to save him, he is regenerated and immediately indwelt by the Holy Ghost. This indwelling of the Holy Ghost is not evidenced by speaking in tongues, but by godly living. A saved person possesses eternal life. He is saved NOW. This is a permanent work of grace, never to be repeated. Salvation cannot be lost. Once saved, always saved.
We believe that once a person is saved, they should be baptized by immersion; join a church like ours; strive to live a holy, sanctified life; witness to the lost and faithfully serve the Lord.
We believe in the personal, pre-tribulation return of Jesus in the air to rapture out the believers. After this rapture, there will be a 7-year Great Tribulation, followed by the physical return of Jesus to the earth to set up His Kingdom and reign for 1,000 years.
The saved will spend eternity in Heaven with the Lord. The unsaved will be cast into a literal Lake of Fire to suffer conscious torment forever and ever.

The Baptist Tabernacle Q&A
Question: Who do I find and navigate the church buildings?
Answer: We are located on the Access Road in Covington, Georgia, about two miles from the town square. When you pull into the parking lot, you'll notice two buildings. The one on the right is the main Church building. The building on the left is the Beulah Building, which houses our Pastor’s office, the main Church office, our nursery and most of our adult Sunday School classes. Our Children’s Church, Student Ministries and their Sunday School classes, along with a few of our adult classes, are located downstairs. You may drive around the building to the back if you wish to avoid walking down the stairs. Anyone will be more than happy to show you to our nursery, the restrooms, your child’s class or your class.Question: Where should I park?
Answer: As our guest, please feel free to park in any of our marked 'Visitor' parking spaces. We also have many handicapped and senior spaces marked for your convenience. Our Complimentary Valet Parking is available to everyone. It is a special blessing to those mothers with small children, the elderly and our visitors. If you want to take advantage of this service, please pull up to the main entrance. We have trustworthy men who will park your car and then bring it back to the main entrance at the conclusion of the service.Question: What's here for my kids?
Answer: Starting with an excellent nursery, there is something special for every age child from birth through high school. For every service, there is a safe, clean and well-staffed nursery for children three years old and under. For children four years old through sixth grade, there are fun, friendly and Bible-centered classes. These classes are staffed with trained, friendly and well-qualified teachers and helpers who will make church exciting and memorable for your child. Students seventh grade through twelfth grade will enjoy their own special Sunday School class.Question: What is the service schedule?
Answer: Sunday School 9:30 A.M.Sunday Morning Service 10:30 A.M.
Sunday Evening Service 5:00 P.M.
Wednesday Night Service 7:00 P.M.
Wednesday Children's and Student Ministries 7:00 P.M.
Question: What should I expect in the services?
Answer: You will enjoy beautiful and inspiring music from the choir and other special music. The music is followed by a clear, helpful and encouraging Bible message. The best way to get to know people at The Tabernacle is to visit one of the nine adult Bible classes.Question: How should I dress?
Answer: There is not a dress code at The Tabernacle for members or guests. Our ministry leaders and many of our church family dress in more traditional “Sunday” attire; however, our main goal is that you would feel welcomed and comfortable on your visit with us.Question: Am I expected to participate in the offering?
Answer: No. We don't invite you to The Tabernacle for your offering. We want our service to be a gift to you. We hope you will find in this place a warm family spirit, truth from God's Word and a place where you can grow in God's grace. Please don't feel any obligation to participate in the offering.Street Address

Leader Bio:
Dr. David C. Moody became our Pastor on March 9, 2003, as the successor to his father, who is the Founding Pastor of The Baptist Tabernacle. He accredits his Christian education to his Sunday School of his younger years and the years he spent at Tabernacle Christian School. Though his education was a collective effort through Baptist University of America, Luther Rice Baptist Seminary and Immanuel Bible Seminary, he still says he received his greatest training in preparation for the ministry by sitting under his father and being mentored by other great men of God. His greatest influences are fundamental Baptist preachers who proved themselves in great service and faith. They include his father, Dr. R. Hudson Moody, Dr. Teague Groce, Dr. Lee Roberson, Dr. John R. Rice, Dr. Curtis Hutson, Dr. Sammy Allen, Dr. Harold Sightler, Dr. Lester Roloff, Dr. Bob Jones, Sr. and Dr. Maze Jackson.
Pastor David and his wife, Carol, met in 1970 at The Baptist Tabernacle. Through the providential will of God, they were married while attending college. In 1993, the church called Pastor David to assist his dad full-time at The Tabernacle. He and Carol have served together in ministry since that time. We are proud to serve with our family and grandchildren. Pastor David is passionate about the call God has put on his life to preach His Word. Through his leadership and integrity, The Baptist Tabernacle has remained a church with high standards, strong convictions and a fervent evangelistic spirit. Because of his unapologetic preaching, lost souls still find salvation. Under his leadership, our Sunday School Ministry has almost doubled and our Bus Ministry has grown from one bus to many, as we continue to bring in boys and girls to hear about the One who loves them and died for them. Our Missions Program is stronger than ever and our purpose is still 'For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ' (Ephesians 4:12).

With us night and morning
By gracious powers so wonderfully sheltered, and confidently waiting come what may, we know that God is with us night and morning, and never fails to greet us each new day. Yet is this heart by its old foe tormented, still evil days bring burdens hard to bear; Oh, give our frightened souls the sure salvation for which, O Lord, You taught us to prepare. And when this cup You give is filled to brimming with bitter suffering, hard to understand, we take it thankfully and without trembling, out of so good and so beloved a hand. Yet when again in this same world You give us the joy we had, the brightness of Your Sun, we shall remember all the days we lived through, and our whole life shall then be Yours alone.
