Who we are
The Cathedral Church of the Diocese of Brandon, St. Matthew's was established as the parish church of the new City of Brandon in 1882. The church building was dedicated in 1914, ten years before the establishment of the Diocese. After some years as a "pro-Cathedral," Cathedral status was granted in 1951.
The Cathedral is noted for its fine stained glass, and its three-manual Casavant pipe organ. It is the venue for a number of concerts, and has a special relationship with the Brandon University School of Music.
Our worship life is centered on the Holy Eucharist, using both the Book of Alternative Services and the Book of Common Prayer. The congregation is diverse, coming from many walks of life, and with a wide theological spectrum.
