Who we are

We are an evangelical congregation, declaring the whole counsel of God, as evidenced through our Statement of Faith. Nothing we do is as important as following Jesus’ words in Matthew 24:14, “And this Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations.”

Our Vision

Reaching the Lost and Equipping the Saints for the Work of Ministry.

Evangelism

The Church of The Apostles is actively committed to reaching out to those who do not know Christ. Every ministry at Apostles focuses on the vision of the church: equipping the saints for the work of ministry. In addition to Sunday worship services, members at Apostles have seen friends and family come to Christ through annual outreach events.

Our Mission

To declare the whole counsel of God.

Our vision and mission are accomplished by unconditionally surrendering to and seeking the leadership of God the Father, through Jesus, His only begotten Son, and by the power of the Holy Spirit. We know that the most significant impact we as a church can make is to reach out to others. God has called us as a church to act as a lighthouse for those genuinely seeking the truth of the Gospel, not only in the city of Atlanta but also throughout the nation and the farthest corners of the world. Our members reach out to others locally and around the world through continuing involvement and support of missions and ministries.

We recognize God as our authority in every area of life. We also acknowledge that we will answer to Him for every action we take. He has given us the privilege to reach many people, and as recipients of God’s grace, He will judge our obedience to Him.

We believe the Bible to be inspired, the only infallible Word of God. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in the deity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father and His personal return in power and glory. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost – those who are saved unto the resurrection of life or lost unto the resurrection of damnation. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in Christ.

Leader Bio:
Even before he was born, it was evident that God had a vision for Michael Amerhom Youssef. His mother was in poor health at the time she became pregnant with Michael, and because her life would be jeopardized by the birth, the doctor recommended terminating the pregnancy. An abortion procedure was scheduled. But God intervened, and sent the family pastor to reassure them the night before the procedure was to take place that God was involved in this pregnancy, not to be afraid, and that this child would be “born to serve the Lord.” Michael’s parents accepted the pastor’s message as a message from God and obeyed. His mother gave birth, and lived to see him surrender his life to the Lord in 1964 at age sixteen.

Believing that God was calling him out of Egypt, Michael sought an exit visa at a time when no university student was permitted to hold a passport or leave the country. God intervened again, and miraculously provided approval of his application. He immigrated to Australia, where he studied at Moore Theological College in Sydney, was ordained as a minister, and met and married his wife, Elizabeth.

The Youssefs came to America in 1977 and in 1978, Michael received a master’s degree in theology at Fuller Theological Seminary in California. He later earned a doctorate in social anthropology from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Michael served for nearly ten years with the Haggai Institute, traveling around the world more than 32 times, teaching courses in evangelism and church leadership to church leaders. He rose to the position of Managing Director at the age of 31. The family settled in Atlanta, and in 1984, Michael became a United States citizen, fulfilling a dream he had held for many years.

He founded The Church of The Apostles in 1987 with fewer than 40 adults with the mission to “Equip the Saints and Seek the Lost.” The church has since grown to a congregation of over 3000. This church on a hill was the launching pad for Leading the Way‘s international ministry. Leading The Way with Dr. Michael Youssef passionately proclaims uncompromising Truth through radio and television programs, the Internet, and through books, periodicals, and other resources. Programs are translated and broadcast into 20 languages, covering more than 200 countries. This Atlanta-based organization partners internationally with in-country follow-up teams to encourage believers in their faith, helping God’s kingdom to grow around the world.

The path he has walked has given him a thorough cross-cultural understanding and a firm grasp of Scripture. He preaches, teaches and exhorts with a straightforward and uncompromising delivery, based on the authority of the inspired, infallible Word of God. His unique, firsthand understanding of the Holy Land, its history and culture, brings the Bible to life for listeners.   Edit

The Church of The Apostles Historical Photos

The power of Christian prayer Help me to avoid every sin
Thanks to Thee, O God, that I have risen today, To the rising of this life itself; may it be to Thine own glory, O God of every gift, and to the glory, aid Thou my soul. With the aiding of Thine own mercy, even as I clothe my body with wool, cover Thou my soul with the shadow of Thy wing. Help me to avoid every sin, and the source of every sin to forsake, and as the mist scatters on the crest of the hills, may each ill haze clear from my soul, O God.
