Who we are
Threemilestone is a friendly, welcoming Methodist Church drawing worshippers from a wide area. We welcome any newcomers and visitors, either to our Sunday worship at 10.30am or to any of our weekday activities. We cater for all ages, particularly families with young children, so please look at our regular and upcoming events pages to see what is planned, and we encourage you to contact us by e-mail or telephone if you have any questions. Our building is modern and meets the needs of disabled and other groups.
Our mission statement is based on the words of Nelson Mandela and reflects our desire both to worship God and to serve our community:
We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. As we let our light shine so let us enable others to do the same; we will demonstrate the love of God by caring and sharing; we will further the Kingdom of God in this church and community.

Tiddlers aims to provide a safe and happy environment where children can play together and adults can meet old friends and make new ones.We meet at Threemilestone Methodist Church on Wednesday mornings from 10.00 – 11.30 a.m. (term-time only) and welcome children from birth to 4 years along with their parents and carers. We have a wide range of toys and books suitable for all ages, and a creative activity is planned for each week. Towards the end of the session we come together for singing and music. The fee for the first child is £1.00 and 50p for siblings, which covers the cost of refreshments and creative materials.
PIZZA & … get together every 4th week of the month on a Friday from 4.30 p.m. till 6.00 p.m. (excluding school summer holidays). It is aimed at primary school children, although some have younger brothers or sisters who come too. Children are asked to bring a parent or grandparent. We make, we bake, we paint, etc. We have Pizza and a dessert afterwards. You are welcome to join us.
The children who come to church on a Sunday morning have recently re-named their group “Jigsaw” (Jesus Is Great Super And Wonderful). We share the first part of worship with the adults and then go off to our different activities. The smallest children go into the creche in the coffee bar and the others meet as a group together. In recent months we have been working on a project creating a mural depicting stories from the Old Testament.

Threemilestone Methodist Church History
The story of our church here in Threemilestone really began a mile down the road at Greenbottom. A Methodist church had stood there since 1873 but by the mid 1960s the attendance figures were decreasing. The congregation had the vision that the existing church be closed and another built in the village of Threemilestone where the population was expanding rapidly, so after years of planning and preparation, work began on the new church in 1973.
The foundation stone was laid on October 20th 1973 by Alderman J.M. Scoble and the Opening Ceremony and Service of Dedication took place on Thursday 2nd May 1974. Attending and participating at the opening were The Rev. A. John Lawton B.D. (Minister), The Rev. Peter Bolt B.D. (Superintendant of the Truro Circuit), The Rev.A. Bernard Franklin (former Minister of the Greenbottom section of the Truro Circuit and now present Chairman of the District), and The Rev. J. Russell-Pope (President-elect of the Methodist Conference).
Numbers attending the church increased during the first ten years and included a very large Sunday School. The space available became limited for the numbers of children – we had several classes meeting in the hall, two classes meeting in the kitchen and two moving out of the premises to the Community Centre next door for their lessons! So plans were made for an extension to the building at the side and the rear which comprised three new rooms, two of which had dividing screens so that five extra groups could meet. The building took four months to complete at a cost of £20,000 much of which was raised by the congregation.
The Opening Ceremony and Service of Dedication and Thanksgiving for this extension took place on March 3rd 1984. Present and taking part were Rev J. Michael Taylor B.D., B.A (Minister), Rev. Clifford Johnson B.A (Superintendant Minister), Rev. R.O. Dunstone (Guest and Former Minister), and the Opener – Rev. Ian Haile B.Met. (Chairman of the Cornwall District of the Methodist Church)
