Who we are
We are Torah Observant Apostolic, a Sabbath keeping assembly located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Who We Are We are true monotheists. We utterly reject any teaching that asserts a plurality of deity. Yehova has and will always be a singularly unique individual, separate from all others. He exists in a state of complete Holiness free from the pollution of sin. He does not change from generation to generation. The laws by which He governs the universe do not change. He is the same yesterday today and forever.
Yehova and Man Yehova made man for his own pleasure and according to his own purpose and intent. Yehova gave the first man Adam the earth as his kingdom and placed him in authority over all things in it. He also gave him authority over and responsibility for every human being that would descend from him. Adam was also given the right and ability to rebel against Yehova. Eventually he did rebel.
Spiritual Authority We live within a spiritual reality. This spiritual reality is greater than the natural world in which we live. In the realm of the spirit there exists an order of authority. Every individual is protected by the authority placed over them and long as they remain within that authority. If we step out of that authority, we become subject to the authority by which we rebel. All that we have authority over also becomes subject to this new authority. When Adam broke the one commandment, he was given by eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil he subjected every human being that would be born in his lineage from that point forward to the rule and influence of sin. The entirety of humanity, both existing and in potential, were taken captive and enslaved that day.
Yeshua the Messiah
Yehova, knowing the end of all things from the beginning, had already planned for the eventuality of man’s rebellion – Yeshua the Messiah, the lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Yehova, after judging the sin of the Man, the woman, and the serpent, instituted what is referred to as the doctrine of substitution. Simply put this is the sacrificial offering of the innocent for the sins of guilty.
With out the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin. In order to redeem humanity a sinless individual willing to pay the price would have to be found. This individual would also assume Adam’s role as the human sovereign of the nations. Yehova, having perfect foreknowledge of this situation, fashioned a body for himself and inhabited it. The man (Jesus) Yeshua is Yehova incarnate. Through his sacrifice he has inherited the whole of humanity. He has done away with the need for an intermediary between man and himself by fulfilling the role himself.
Atonement for Sin Although it is not exhaustively demonstrated in the early portions of scripture, one may safely assume the establishment of at least an annual sacrificial atonement for sin. Yehova would have taught this to Adam in the process of providing coats of skins to cover his nakedness. Adam would have taught this practice to his sons and it would have been repeatedly passed down from generation to generation. This would become the foundation for all prescribed offerings and annual observances of the feasts of Yehova as given through Moses. All these mandatory feasts and offerings point to and/or describe the Messiah himself as well as the actions he would take to atone for the sins of mankind.
Patterns within the Torah
The satisfaction of these preexisting patterns legitimizes the claims of Yeshua to be the Messiah. The Idea that the Torah which contains these patterns is no longer in effect is Ludacris. The patterns contained in the feasts of Yehova are divided into two parts. The Spring feasts and the fall feasts.
The spring feasts were completed by Yeshua. He lived them out as the major portion of his ministry. In short Jesus the lamb slain from the foundation of the world was crucified on the annual Passover. The Passover was a foreshadowing of the offering of the Messiah for the sins of the world. Yeshua (Jesus) satisfied the pattern established long before his incarnation. In like manner, he satisfied all the spring feasts of Yehova.
What is left are the fall feasts of Yehova. He will fulfill these beginning with the feast of Trumpets, (Yom Teruah) when he will descend with a shout, with the voice of the arch angel and the trump of God. This will happen after a seven-year period referred to as Jacob’s trouble or Daniel’s seventieth week.
The time between the spring and fall feast of Yehova is the time of the gentiles. It is a matter of months on the annual calendar; however, it is a representation of a two thousand year period of time referred to as the time of the gentiles.
Obedience to Torah We do not call ourselves Christians. This is not out of any animosity; we simply cannot identify with a religious system that undermines the word of God.
Matthew 5:19 teaches that we are to keep the Torah and teach others to do so as well. How can we teach Torah if we don’t keep it? The mandated observances of the Torah are repeatedly said to be permanent! The Torah teaches that the keeping of the Sabbath is to be permanent and to fail to keep it will result in spiritual death.
Rabbinic Traditions We do not adopt Rabbinic traditions as they are traditions of men.
Yeshua was constantly confronting the religious bodies of his day over their man-made religious tradition. These were additions and subtractions from the Torah as given by Moses. When Yeshua said, come unto me all you that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest he was speaking about the weight of the Rabbinic religious system. A religious system that was impossible to satisfy. This is a system that turned the beauty of the Sabbath into a minefield of religious ordinances, none of which are given in the Torah.
The New Birth
We believe that every individual must be born again. This new birth is described by Yeshua in John chapter three as a birth of water and spirit that is accompanied by an audible signal (tongues).
Baptism This new birth is best exemplified in Acts chapter two when disciples previously baptized in the name of Yeshua were filled with the spirit on Shavuot (Pentecost).
We know that many still reject this truth, but please consider the counsel of the word of God.
The Infilling of the Holy Spirit Except a man is born again he can not enter the kingdom of God. If any man has not the spirit of Messiah (Christ) he is none of his. God gives the Holy spirit to those that obey him. The only evidence of the new birth offered by the word of God is the phenomenon of Tongues at the moment of spiritual birth. It signals your entrance into the kingdom and new life.
Rejection of Pagan Traditions We believe that is necessary to put away all cultural traditions that are derived from pagan forms of worship i.e. Christmas, Easter etc… We are told to come out from the cultural system in which we were born, to separate ourselves and touch not the unclean things. Repentance is not just a matter of abandoning personal sin, it is a matter of rejecting cultural sin. Second Corinthians chapter six clearly teaches that the rejection of the culture is a prerequisite to acceptance with Yehova. You cannot live in both worlds. You can not eat at the table of demons and the table of God.
I have tried to be as plain as possible in the hope that anyone seeking to walk as we do will find clear understanding of our beliefs. My only desire is to see the face of Yeshua at the end of this life and to assist any like-minded person.
