Who we are
Trinity Church is an affirming Christian community that nurtures connection across generations, fosters a deep and curious spiritual life, and delights in creativity and service.
We are grounded in our shared Episcopal tradition and open to where the Spirit may be leading us. We come together with different questions and varying needs to explore, to serve, and to celebrate together.
We come unchurched or long-churched. We are more comfortable with questions than with certainty. We engage together and individually in the on-going work of the soul.
We commit to “strive for justice and peace” and “respect the dignity of every human being.” We seek to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God, whom we call by many names.
We are a joyful, fun-loving people who delight in each others' company. Trinity is a safe place to be yourself and we extend an unconditional welcome to all persons, each created in God's image.
So we invite you to walk with us. To grow and serve with us. And to celebrate and play with us!

Leader Bio:
Jude came to Trinity after faithfully serving for 10 years in various positions at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, most recently as the Canon for Innovative Ministry. He is the founding pastor of The Vine SF, Grace's response to the conservative evangelical movement. The Vine bridges evangelical and sacramental models of worship and promotes social justice while building community.
Jude graduated from Haverford College with a BA in Religion in 2003. He holds a Master of Divinity in New Testament and Early Christianity from Harvard Divinity School and a Master of Arts from Virginia Theological Seminary in Systematic Theology.
Jude’s intellect, creativity, and enthusiasm are a gift to the Trinity community. He is bringing new energy and fresh ideas, while at the same time lovingly nourishing our souls, where we are today.

Trinity Church Menlo Park Photos

Trinity Church History
Holy Trinity Episcopal Parish was organized in 1886 to meet the needs of wealthy San Franciscans summering at their Menlo Park country estates. Senator Leland Stanford, was elected Trinity's first Junior Warden. With his wife Jane, Stanford had just founded the nearby Leland Stanford Jr. University in honor of their deceased son.
Ironically, whereas Leland's role at Trinity was largely passive, Jane Stanford was an active supporter of nearby Menlo Park Presbyterian Church (now Menlo Church), which has long been the biggest Protestant church in town. The mid-20th century postwar boom coincided with the development of Silicon Valley and fueled the heyday of the church. During the late 1950s the present church building was constructed and, when overcrowding continued, Trinity established a mission church at St. Bede's on the west side of town as new housing spread into the hills.
Trinity Church and St. Bede's split into separate parishes in 1982. Together we continue to sponsor Trinity School, whose primary campus is at St. Bede's, while Trinity Church hosts Trinity Preschool.
Trinity moved to our current site in 1903. Of the six acres originally purchased, almost two acres remain in the beautiful campus that we enjoy today. We remain careful stewards of this generous legacy of our Trinity forebears.
We also acknowledge that our campus is part of the ancestral land of the Muwekma Ohlone people, who were removed to Spanish missions in the late 18th century.
After being driven to near extinction by government policy in the 19th century, the Muwekma Ohlone counted almost 400 enrolled members at the turn of the 21st century. Their attempt to become a federally recognized tribe is ongoing. They want us to know that they are still here.

Your Holy Spirit enfolds me - making me realize I am not alone. Thank You for Your strength, Your wisdom and the comfort of Your presence. Even in the most agonizing times I have the knowledge that You are there, Lord. When all I can do is whisper Your Name, it is enough. You hear. You care. You understand. My praise and adoration, Lord Jesus. Amen.
