Who we are
Our Mission Statement (Who We Are)
Trinity Lutheran Church is a family built by Jesus to live out our faith through the joyful teaching of God's Word, multigenerational worship, and compassionate community.
Our Vision Statement (Who We Will Be)
As a family built by Jesus, every member of Trinity Lutheran Church will be equipped to serve those we meet with God's grace and love.
God's Word drives us toward this vision, as found in Ephesians 4:11-12, "So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up"

Leader Bio:
Pastor Patrick was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and although he misses Dodger Stadium and In-N-Out Burger, he wouldn't trade living in beautiful Bend for anywhere else! He is married to Kari, our Director of Family Ministry (below), and their happy baby boy, John, was born in March 2013. In addition to being a lifelong Dodger fan, he also enjoys Star Trek, history, and reading, and can't say no to a good cookie.
After graduating from seminary, Pastor Patrick was called here to Trinity, where he was ordained and installed in July 2011. His biggest passion for the pastoral ministry is in helping others learn more about their God and His love for them, so that they grow in their faith and see their life, community, and world through "cross-shaped lenses."
Pastor Patrick's favorite Bible verse is also his confirmation verse: "But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31 Â

Trinity Lutheran Church History
The First 75 Years and beyond...
1920 marked the year The Rev. George Theiss was sent to canvas Bend, population 5,415. Mission work began in earnest in 1923 by Rev. W. F. George, with an unusual approach. He would look for German names on the mailboxes and then ask the family if they might be Lutheran or know any Lutherans. He served this area until 1925. On December 27, 1925, the congregation was formally organized and named Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. March 13, 1926, saw the groundbreaking for the chapel located at Federal and Galveston (which still stands today as a ski and snowboard shop). The total cost was $1,500.
Our first called pastor, Rev. J.C.R. Schmidt, was ordained and installed on September 5, 1926. Ministry continued until by October, 1957, having outgrown the building on Galveston, property was purchased 'out in the country' and groundbreaking was held at the new location, 11th and Greenwood. Pastor Robert Becker was serving Trinity at that time. He saw the beginning of Trinity Lutheran Kindergarten in the fall of 1959. Again our congregation outgrew its facility, so in 1982 a complete remodel at that site began. This enabled us to establish our Elementary School with grades 1 and 2 in 1983. 1989 marked the next expansion on the Church building to allow our Sunday School and Elementary School to continue to include Kindergarten through 8th grade.
1994 marked the year Trinity Lutheran School moved into its new facility on Butler Market Road, a 23-acre site purchased and assembled with the foresight of several members. In 2005, Trinity Lutheran Church sold the 11th Street building (now home to Victory Baptist Church) and joined the school at the Butler Market Road site, holding worship services in the newly completed gymnasium (sometimes amusingly called the 'sanctinasium'). With the addition of the high school in 2006, Trinity Lutheran School now hosts all grades from Pre-Kindergarten (3 year-olds) all the way to 12th grade. Two daughter congregations have also been established by the grace of God through Trinity: Faith Lutheran Church in LaPine (1966) and Emmaus Lutheran Church in Redmond (1980). Soli Deo Gloria - "To God Alone be the Glory"

Come Lord Jesus!
Lord Jesus, master of both the light and the darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas. We who have so much to do seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day. We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us. We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom. We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence. We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light. To you we say, "Come Lord Jesus!"
