Who we are
Welcome to Trinity Lutheran Church!
If you are new, considering a visit, or haven’t been here in a while, we would like to help you along. We understand that a new church can be intimidating, so we are here to answer any questions or concerns you may have.
We believe in the following:
Being “Lutheran,” our congregation accepts and teaches the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther that inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century. The teaching of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in three short phrases: Grace alone, Scripture alone, Faith alone.
Grace alone God loves the people of the world, even though they are sinful, rebel against Him and do not deserve His love. He sent Jesus, His Son, to love the unlovable and save the ungodly.
Faith alone By His suffering and death as the substitute for all people of all time, Jesus purchased and won forgiveness and eternal life for them. Those who hear this Good News and believe it have the eternal life that it offers. God creates faith in Christ and gives people forgiveness through Him.
Scripture alone The Bible is God’s inerrant and infallible Word, in which He reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is the sole rule and norm for Christian doctrine.
If you have any questions about what we believe, or want to understand these three points better, Please feel free to email Pastor Ken or call the church office at 317-897-0243.
In addition, see http://www.lcms.org/belief-and-practice for detailed information regarding the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod’s belief’s and practices.

Leader Bio:
Pastor Ken and Brenda Wagener are grateful to God for the privilege to serve alongside you, brothers and sisters at Trinity Lutheran Church and School, Indianapolis.
The Wageners recently moved from Macomb, Michigan, a northern suburb of Detroit. Pastor Ken served at St. Peter Lutheran Church and School from December 2005 to February 2016. His great joys in ministry there were pastoral care and stewardship, and he also served as Senior Pastor. He also recently served as pastoral counselor for the Michigan LWML Evergreen Zone.
Pastor Ken grew up in south St. Louis, Missouri. The oldest of three siblings, he and his family attended Christ Memorial Lutheran Church. He was confirmed there, and the congregation supported his decision to pursue pastoral ministry. At Christ Memorial’s “Youth Group,” he also met Brenda. They married in 1980, and have now lived in six states during their ministry. Since those early days, she’s been a faithful partner and co-worker in serving the Lord.
In 1993, the Wageners welcomed their daughter Alissa into their lives—by adoption! Libby has artistic and marketing skills and interests, and currently loves her job at Granite City Brewery in downtown Indianapolis.
In the past, Pastor Ken has served congregations in Iowa, Wisconsin, and the St. Louis area. He also was privileged to serve at Concordia Publishing House, the publishing arm of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. His passions in congregational ministry have always been uplifting worship, growing as disciples of Jesus Christ, and caring for one another in our times of need. He’s a certified facilitator for 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families, and enjoys reading in the areas of marriage enrichment, personal strengths and leadership, and history. His personal mission statement is “Enrich, Equip, Encourage.”
Pastor Ken’s mom, Doris Blumenkamp, still lives in St. Louis and joins us in worship today for his installation. Brenda’s parents, Woodie and Sue Winter, live in Mooresville, and Woodie also joins us for worship today. Her brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Rhonda Winter, also live in the Mooresville area and both are long-time Hoosiers.
Thank you, members and friends, for the great joy and honor you have bestowed on us to join you in this rich and historic ministry. We trust that God will lead us together in the mission to love people to Christ, and to reach out to our community with Good News about our risen Savior.
God bless us all!
