Who we are
Community of Faith
United Congregational Church is a growing and vibrant community of faith. We worship, care for each other, celebrate, learn, advocate, have fun, and take action as a fellowship of Christian believers. We welcome all people to join us in our journey together. Worship
Our worship is exciting and creative. The congregation participates in worship by contributing music, serving on worship teams and experimenting with new ideas. Mission, justice, and outreach are central to our vision. We are a nurturing community. We are trying to listen to what God is calling us to do and to be. We are taking action and trusting that as we do so, our purpose and our relationship with God will become even more real.
The Building
We worship in Merriman Chapel which is located at 6 Institute Road in the Worcester Area Mission Society (WAMS) building.
In the winter of 2010, the members of United Congregational Church, took a bold step and voted to donate 6 Institute Road and our endowment to the Worcester Area Mission Society, the mission arm of the Central Association of the Massachusetts Conference, United Church of Christ.
We continue to worship at 6 Institute Road, but the building now also serves as a hub for Worcester area agencies focused on ending homelessness.

Leader Bio:
Brae Adams grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and received her BA in English at Mississippi State University. While a sophomore at Mississippi State University and working as an intern for the Women and Gender Studies department, she helped design and implement the school’s first Gay Straight Alliance to combat the increased risk of vandalism of their dorm rooms, assaults and discrimination that LGBT folks were experiencing at the time on campus.
This began her lifelong interest in issues of equality and non-discrimination. After a fifteen-year hiatus to rear her three children, Kit, Avery and Han, Brae received her call to ministry in 2012 and enrolled in Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School, graduating in 2018. She served as lay pastor at Open Arms Metropolitan Community Church beginning in 2014 and was ordained there in 2019.
While in Rochester, Brae served as a steering committee member for the Western New York HRC, the Human Rights Campaign; as a member of the Board of ROC Salt center, a ministry of the presbytery of Genesee Valley; as a member of the Christian Faith and LGBT lectureship committee at Colgate Divinity School; and as chairperson of the board for the South Wedge Food Program.
She has been a national lecturer on the subject of LGBT persons and the church, provided spiritual support for community actions for various Black Lives Matter groups, and currently serves as an Antiracism Educator and conflict resolution team member for the Metropolitan Community Church. Brae was called to United Congregational Church in September of 2021. She lives in Auburn with her beloved Debbie and their two dogs Holly and Stella Jo.

Eternal God, this holy night is radiant with the brilliance of your one true light. May that light illuminate our hearts and shine in our words and deeds. May the hope, the peace, the joy, and the love represented by the birth in Bethlehem this night fill our lives and become part of all that we say and do. May we share the divine life of your son Jesus Christ, even as he humbled himself to share our humanity. Amen.
