Who we are
Not your ordinary church
Village Church is a Bible-believing church in Annandale, in Sydney’s Inner West. We exist to see God given greater glory by more and more people, in the Inner West, the media, and beyond, as they trust in Jesus as their lord and saviour. It’s our prayer that God would use us as we share the gospel, to transform Annandale, the Inner West, and beyond to lift high the name of Jesus. Just like the Inner West, we’re from all sorts of backgrounds, with all sorts of histories, and all sorts of stories. Just like you.
We’d love to hear your story and would love for you to join us in ours.

Dress Code
Jesus invites us all to ‘come as we are’, so Village is the same. Most people at Village dress casually, but let’s be honest, everyone’s a little different. Jeans and t-shirts are just fine, but so are capes, suits, and all sorts of dress

Village Church Annandale History
Village Church didn't always look and feel like it does now
Our church has its roots in the ‘Christians in the Media’ ministry to Sydney’s media workers. While working at radio stations 2UE and 2WS, Dominic Steele noticed a ‘gap in the market’ between media makers and church communities. Not feeling perfectly at home in the media, and not perfectly at home in church, ‘Christians in the Media’ was born as a support network for Christian media workers. Later, this ministry planted a church in Glebe in 1999.
By God’s grace, this church grew and in 2002, Dominic was invited to take over the leadership of St. Aidan’s Anglican Church (the location of our church now), and our attention turned to reaching not only the media with the good news of Jesus, but also Sydney’s Inner West. Then ten years later, at a resolution at a church Annual General Meeting, St. Aidan’s Anglican Church was formally renamed Village Church.
So things changed quite a bit since then; we’ve gone from an old building to a renovated space, from pews to chairs, from organ music to alternative indie, and from 1980s to renovated Inner West.
We didn’t know what God had in store for us (and we still don’t know), but one thing hasn’t changed since we started: the goal of seeing God receive even more glory from even more people. And we trust that this won’t change.
To hear more, check out the video below, where Lead Pastor Dominic Steele shares the story of how Village came to be, and how he began a personal relationship with Jesus.
