Rev. Roy Craft, wift, Shirli Jean and daughter, Jenica came to serve the First United Pentecostal Church in August 1981. Brother Craft was at a conference when he felt a burden for Hattiesburg. He learned shortly thereafter that the pastorate was open and he and Sister Craft were elected pastor.
Brother and Sister Craft were married at the First United Pentecostal Church of Hattiesburg in October 1975. Brother Craft was well acquainted with the church family since he grew up at the church. He attended the Taberacle of Seminary pastored by Brother Billy Burrell while he evangelized prior to coming to Hattiesburg.
Shortly after the Crafts came to Hattiesburg their second daughter, Jacia, was born. Two years later tragedy struck and Jacia was diagnosed with cancer. She passed away in 1983. Brother Craft, a talented musician and songwriter wrote one of his best known songs "Under His Wings" in memory of Jacia. The Crafts were blessed with a third daughter, Heidi, born in 1985.

West Rock United Pentecostal Church History
The church was founded by Rev. M. D. Owens in February 1959. He was preaching a revival in Vicksburg in early February. Billie Rutland attended the revival and recieved the Holy Ghost. She expressed her desire to see a Pentecostal church established in Hattiesburg to reach her unsaved family. Having a burden for Hattiesburg, Brother Owens came the same month and started the church in a storefront building located on North Main Street.
Brother Owens came to Hattiesburg when he was 26 and single. In the fall of 1959 he married Erma Middleton in Shreveport, Louisana. On December 12, 1960 their daughter, Jeanette Ann Owens was born at the Forrest General Hospital.
Some of the first members at the North Main Street location were: Vondell Napier, Annie Brewer, Thelma Brewer, Frances Parker, and Doris Owens. Doris, Brother Owen's sister, was instrumental in beginning the church.
