Who we are
When you first come to Woody, you’ll probably have plenty of questions about what goes on, what we believe, how things work, how to get to know people and so on. You’ll find a lot of this on the website, but here are a couple of immediate suggestions to start you off. Firstly, say hello to the person who welcomes you at the door on a Sunday morning – they’re there to help you! Secondly, tell them you’d like to come to a welcome meal – and give them your contact details! We plan to hold these fairly regularly and their purpose is to help you get to know other people who are new to Woody as well as finding out a bit more about us. Thirdly, join a home group or student cell (it’s not easy to get to know over 100 people on a Sunday morning!). The small groups are a great way to get to make friends, and grow in your faith.

I came to Woody in 1988 after God called me to spend, as I thought (!) a year starting a youth work. Since then I have been a deacon, and elder and now, since September 2014, full-time Pastor, which was not in my plan, but God had other ideas!
I believe we are to be transformed by God’s word (the Bible) and the power of his Holy Spirit. As we are in a deepening relationship with Him and with each other, we can be a blessing to those in our communities.
I feel that Woody is called to serve, influence and bless the Cathays area as we display the love of Christ in everything we do. This includes practical service as well as expecting God to move in Healing, new life in Christ and transformation.
I believe God is giving Woody a vision to build a community that is welcoming, sacrificial, faithful & honest with Christ at the centre. To achieve this, we need to be faithful in prayer, authentic in our worship of God, willing to take steps of faith and working to be an inclusive community.”

A typical service consists of a time of lively worship, relevant Bible teaching, and opportunity to receive prayer. We end with drinks & refreshments after the service.
BSL interpretation and a hearing aid loop are available in Sunday Morning services.
If it’s your first time visiting be sure to pick up a welcome pack located in the foyer.
Once a month, during University term time, we also hold a monthly evening service – Xodus – the next Xodus will therefore take place on Sunday 2nd June 2018 starting at 7pm.
